About this Design
The image depicts a sad, human-like figure sitting in a glass jar with its knees hugged to its chest. The jar is labeled with multiple 'Hello, My Name Is' tags, each with negative terms like 'Phobia', 'Stress', 'Psycho', 'Fatso', 'Anxiety', and 'Disabler'. Labels are for jars NOT people. Labeling is a form of categorization which can have profound effects on individuals. In psychiatric contexts, in which a form of categorization is utilized to discriminate and identify mental disorders, this could lead to stigma and other negative consequences. Nicknames and other labels can range from seemingly innocent to really offensive, like ‘dumb-ass’ or ‘fatso’. It is needless to say that these can really lower a person’s self-esteem.
