“cw: diet culture, eating disorders, fatphobia, shitty doctor behavior while i was in treatment for my eating disorder, i had a doctor's appointment with my GP. this appointment was for a cortisone shot for my carpal tunnel, my ED treatment came up. "yes its going great, yknow learning to make balanced meals, in fact im pretty happy with my breakfast today, i had a bagel, a banana-" this doctor looks at me, completely serious: "a bagel is the worst thing you can eat" he proceeds to spout bullshit low-carb, low-fat diets, "theres no reason for an adult to have juice or milk," "dietitians dont know what theyre talking about and use outdated methods like the food pyramid" (not a single dietitian i worked with has referenced the food pyramid or used anything but the full plate method for that matter) and explaining to the fat person with an eating disorder how carbs works while im trying to fight off a panic attack. then he looks at me and goes "why are you crying?" i fumble through the rest of the appointment, skip the a1c bloodwork i was supposed to get and drive home crying then i had a big glass of strawberry milk and drew a devil bagel because fuck him”
