Colourful illustration of a male wrinkled hornbill. Wrinkled hornbills (Rhabdotorrhinus corrugatus) are an endangered species of bird found only in the tropical forests of the Thai-Malay Peninsula, Sumatra and Borneo. These birds have mostly black plumage with vibrant yellow feathers on the face, blue around the eye and a huge colourful yellow and orange beak. I created this drawing using ink pens on Bristol board, using one of my own photographs as reference. I later added colour to my drawing using alcohol markers layered on top of the black ink.
