About this Design
The image features an abstract depiction of a skull rendered with a watercolor effect. The skull is primarily white, surrounded by a thick, uneven border of varying green shades, giving it a ghostly appearance. The use of simple brush strokes and minimal details elicit an impressionistic style, emphasizing mood over realism.

SKULL: Mortal Coil – The title of this skull originated in Shakespeare’s Hamlet, with Hamlet’s “to be, or not to be” soliloquy. It refers to the struggles of daily life, and the tumult and suffering of human existence. This skull is one of a series of skull artworks created by NYC-based artist Elizabeth Meggs.
