Lycoperdon umbrinum, commonly known as the umber-brown puffball (a type of mushroom), is very common here in Maine. But there's nothing common about how it ages, dries and puffs out it's spore. This is my interpretation of an old, heavily textured, depleted puffball. Here's to fungus among us!
