Cheers to the year of the rat!
The Lunar New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, marks the end of the coldest days and welcomes planting, the spring harvest, and new beginnings. In alignment with the lunar calendar, there’s no set date for the holiday and the festival’s entirety lasts just over two weeks. This year’s Lunar New Year starts January 25. Observers often celebrate with their family, decorating with red lanterns and gifting red envelopes full of money. Midnight on New Year’s Eve will be marked with fireworks and firecrackers.
Ring in the Lunar New Year with designs that attract good fortune, longevity, and plenty. The year of the rat, 2020’s already got good things in store. Rats are clever, quick thinkers and represent wealth and abundance. Feature this furry friend (often seen as pests in western cultures) in new designs for the new year. Dress up your art for this challenge in red (the color of fortune) or try out phrases of good luck and happiness in festive fonts. Whatever you decide, share art representing abundance and good tidings in your Lunar New Year designs.
