Bong! Time for the weed challenge!

Welcome to the dank side.

Mary Jane. Bud. Ganja. Weed. Reefer. The devil’s lettuce. Broccoli. Whatever you like to call it, marijuana is nature’s gift to humankind. Despite all the ways it’s been misunderstood and misrepresented historically, this glorious plant continues to play an integral role in many people’s lives, whether they use it as medicine or recreationally. It’s time to give pot its props!

For your next Design Challenge, we want you to use weed as inspiration for a totally dank new design. To start, maybe think about marijuana’s medicinal properties. It can help reduce anxiety, relieve pain, and even make dad jokes funny. Or, you can focus on the side effects of being faded AF such as the munchies or weed thoughts like, “What do you call a group of squids? A squad?” You could also recreate those trippy neon black light posters you’d see in a head shop, or draw a marijuana leaf smoking the world’s biggest blunt. Go wild with it!

Alternatively, if you would like to send a more socially aware message, consider centering your design around legalizing marijuana and releasing nonviolent drug offenders from prison. According to an analysis by the ACLU, “Nationwide, Black people are 3.6 times more likely than white people to be arrested for marijuana, despite similar usage rates.” You can assist the ACLU’s efforts to legalize marijuana, end racial profiling, and protect individual rights by donating to the organization through Threadless Causes.
