Road Rash Redux: The Jack Rabbit Trading Post, also known for its "Here it is" sign, has a history rooted in Route 66 and roadside attractions. Originally, the building was a Santa Fe Railroad structure, later a snake farm, then a restaurant and dance hall before becoming the Jack Rabbit Trading Post in 1949. Jim Taylor, the founder, capitalized on the traffic along Route 66 by placing a large jackrabbit statue outside, which became a popular photo opportunity and the inspiration for the iconic "HERE IT IS" sign. The trading post has been in the Jaquez family since the early 1960s and continues to be a popular stop for Route 66 travelers
