Pro Black is not Anti White… DEI is not Anti White. Watching all of this bullshit happen with DEI during Black history month is truly heart wrenching. To see us come so far as a society to just take 6000 steps backwards is truly disgusting. This is a message to all of the white people who are triggered by words like “white privilege” or “diversity equity and inclusion”. Why does other people succeeding trigger you? Why do you automatically assume that means something is being TAKEN from YOU? Why do you feel so deeply that it was yours to begin with? From a young age we are raised to believe we can be whoever we want to be, we are the majority and we never have to worry if the color of our skin will hold us back from an opportunity. That is white privilege. It doesn’t mean that we have an easy life, it means that our life isn’t made WORSE strictly because of the color of our skin. We have the privilege of not thinking about experiencing racism when we’re out in the world. We have the privilege of knowing that we won’t be denied a job just because we’re white (yes even with DEI hires, that is not impacting the rate that white people are hired for a position, it’s just making sure that qualified BIPOC, women and LGBTQ folks get their foot in the door). DEI was created out of necessity because even though you want to deny it, racism is alive and well in the US today. Black women are one of the most educated groups in this country, so why is the hiring of an educated, qualified Black woman a “DEI hire”. DEI just provides opportunities for people who are systemically ignored and passed over. Making the workplace more diverse is never a bad thing, and the fact that it upsets you shows that you just care about white people keeping an upper hand in this country, which is racial superiority aka white supremacy. Fighting against oppression is not racism and no one is being racist against white people by trying to end white supremacy.
