if you need the bigger size but don't like the boys fit try girling it up with a pair of scissors. Easy one: cut out the neck band and toss away. cut off the hem of each sleeve and cut ring so you end up with two strips. cut each sleeve from end to shoulder seam (along the top of the arm, but stop at seam so you don't go all the way through to the neck hole) then tie one of the strips between the top of this cut and the neck hole.
You end up with a tee that is almost a tank top, with slightly fluttery sleeves that fall around the underside if your arm. the strips can be replaced with ribbon, or leather, or contrasting strip from another tee. Give it a bash on an old or op-shop (thrift store?) tee to see if you like the effect!

I take a girly XL (quite close fitting) and find the men's medium a good but slightly looser fit if that helps you on sizing.
