  • Well in Eastern Orthodoxy, the Holy week is just the height of an -approx.- 7 week period so it has many customs and traditions tied to the Orthodox church! We fast for about 48 days before Easter Sunday, though many fast only for the Holy week, we too have the tradition of dying boiled eggs on Holly Thursday and having "the fight" on Eastern Sunday as @slavinskas said. We also have lots of fireworks at the time of Christs resurrection which is midnight on Holy Saturday- going on Sunday, and lots of special foods for the easter feast of Easter Sunday top being roasted lamb which is cooked on a rotisery and is the best thing ever!!!! That said there are many local traditions as everyone said and for us the burning of Judas or something like that usually happens at the end of the carnival season which is right before the beginning of lent. So here is a video of a firework "battle" that happens every year at the island of Chios as part of the said tradition. Sadly it's not always without casualties, so ttake care everyone and have a blessed Pascha/ Easter :)

  • and by damaging I mean breaking, ruining the purpose it was made of etc. Not spraypainting the wall of an abandoned building!

  • meaning personal freedom, is in most cases higher in my personal beliefs than aesthetics. But still if someone damages someone elses property that sucks, and they should pay the price.

it sounds a bit utopic to think this way though don't you think!? Like if everything EVERYWHERE had order there would be no growing gap between classes,no world hunger,or slavery, and probably not much use for "illegal", "vandalizing" graffiti altogether! right!?

well yes and I DID say ideally and I'm mostly thinking of my city where there is very little to no difference in peoples status, or at least between the people that are doing the "art" and the people they are doing it to

so this is the difference I'm thinking and like said above it is a different matter and question depending on the place and situation your in and still mostly hypothetical question to you - do you think it's ok for you to spray paint my house ?

lovely posts and videos, but tldr all so I'll stick to the short answer: If I had to choose between having no graffiti ever again around me, or it being allowed I would go with the latter, because no mater everyone's personal taste it's still a means of expression and great art has come from it!
