  • This image is a personal allegory in a style very much influenced by the baroque renaissance.

It is not a specific scene from any religious or spiritual text. People seem make a range of associations with the image that occur as relevant to many different philosophical and religious orientations. For me it is not advocating a specific set of beliefs, but rather is intended to provoke a sense of grander, wonder, faith and mystery, that I think applies to many ways of relating to life.

This particular painting was inspired by countless hours I spent inside the Ringling Museum in Sarasota, FL. They have one of the largest baroque collections in the world, including several 30 ft paintings by Peter Paul Rubins. My time spent in the museum was every bit as much a teacher and influence in my work as anything I have ever experienced.

This image would be reproduced with several shades of grey and white highlights, for smooth shading and gradations.
