  • The figures will be different on every designers. If I am opifan64, with mad skills and superb executions then I don't have to worry about anything. But for us with limited skills, getting printed on the 1st place is like winning the lottery, and now, getting printed is not the only problem anymore but our design must sell well first before we earn some pennies.*So being picked will not guarantee that we will have some change in our pockets from now on.

Just to offer a bit of real world perspective, I've already earned significantly more on my Made store design "Barnabus" through royalties than I would have if I had submitted it under the old terms.

  • Almost everyone is doing it already way before Threadless took away the up front prize money. They are submitting their designs at different sites at the same time so I think more designers will do the same from now on.

The conclusion is You will reach less than $2000 for one print run. :(

this sucks. It makes me ask myself, Should I just submit somewhere else?

  • I think Budi (Threadless) will have all our questions answered so please give them some time. For now, we must accept the reality that Threadless needs to be in a position that a company must earn to compensate for all their expenses. Now back to reality, work and get paid equals life. Peace y'all.

  • The best thing to do is don't expect. Unless you're the "Threadless favorite artist" for the year then you can check it a week after scoring has ended because you can be sure that you will get printed more often than you think. Just forget it and go through with your daily routine. It's much easier to get your monthly pay check than wait for the winning email every single day. Peace y'all.

  • I believe that if the designs will be placed in random order, it will be very hard even for the designers to search their own designs since the new system needs more scrolling to be able to check the designs one by one. And it will be tiring to count every design while scrolling to check your standings. However, I think the positions are now in order according to the average score. Or is it still jumbled?
