  • I'd be MORE than happy to discuss any of your concerns with you. It's easy to throw stones on the internet behind the anonymity of a web forum, but if you're willing to give me constructive criticism or allow me to answer questions you may have, I would welcome it.

I have the utmost respect for Threadless and what they do. However, I see a void in the market. College shirts suck these days. People take generic college logos and just paste them on a t-shirt. There's nothing creative or unique about them. We want to change that.

Stubby, you accuse us of not getting "the point and see it as a cheap way of getting designs." Quite the contrary.

I've been in the collegiate retail business since 2004. I opened a store next to campus and we only sold LSU merchandise ( People always loved the creative things we came up with for Game Days and how we put our own twist on collegiate designs. After year four, it got to be difficult for me to come up with creative designs on my own for the same old game rivalries or using the same Purple and Gold.

Then it dawned on me. What if we opened up the design process to everyone? To the fans? We would get people coming in to the store all the time that would say "I've got a great idea for a design." So why not create an outlet for it? At the same time, why restrict it to just LSU. Let's open it up to ALL universities and colleges.

As far as seeing it "as a cheap way of getting designs" - that's not true at all. Not only have we spent a great deal of money on this entire business model (which if it was just about coming up with designs, we could have paid for several for a lot less than what we've spent so far), we're willing to cut designers in on the success of their shirt. If you create a design that sells a ton of shirts, you're going to share in its success.

Basically, it comes down to this - we're looking to re-invent the look of collegiate t-shirt designs. We're not trying to screw anybody. We're real people trying to hustle just like the rest of you.

If you'd like to discuss it further, you can call me at 225-346-4790. My name is Jared.
