More color is a good idea. Some red or yellow.

I think the problem with the red is that it highlights the hair.
Keep the red, but make the lines in his hair all white.
The drips also don't look realistic/3D enough.
I agree that the ears need to blend in more.

It looks excellent on the midnight blue and the burgundy. This is a design for darker colors.

The design needs to be smaller and centered, I think. I don't think the design is boring. Just use a white shirt. You can make the dashes a different color instead?
