  • This is part of my collection titled "Breakup Art", a series of seven line art designs created after my girlfriend left me last April...I didn't want to mope non-productively.

The absolute basis of learning Japanese are these five characters: a, i, u, e, and o (Katakana). People always wear shirts with Japanese or Chinese characters on them and without ever actually know what those characters say because it's 'cool'.

The absolute basis of life is sunlight. So is laughter. Hence a laffing, smiley-ass sun.

'Taiyou' is the Japanese word for 'sun'.

'Chan' is the title used to address a female, placed after the surname and hypenated, e.g. Palin-chan or Winfrey-chan. It is a term of respect to your peers. (Well, technically in that case, it'd be Palin-sama or Winfrey-sama, as both women are famous and 'sama' is used to address a person of celebrity.)

Plus, for some reason, I think the design looks really anime-ish. KAWAII!!!!

I was planning on selling these at San Francisco Pride 2011.

NOTE: THIS DESIGN IS INTENDED FOR A RED SHIRT, preferably a slim-fit tee.

I'm still learning Illustrator, so the other six designs will be poted as they are completed. Stay tuned; they are SERIOUSLy cute!
