I used to love old antique story books as a kid. The intricate single colour illustrations were like these occasional little treasures to be savored. I always used to marvel at the depth and complexity the artists managed to achieve with nothing more than line-work. Trying to replicate this style as faithfully as possible was a real wrist breaking challenge and has made me even more in awe of the people who used to illustrate whole books this way.
Thanks to Phil Tseng for the amazing presentation.
