Metalman Project & WIP Video

Here's my piece for the forthcoming second volume of the Metalman Project. The basic concept is that each participant draws their interpretation of the head and logo of a character drawn by the moderator when he was a young lad. That character would be, ta-da, Metalman.

My depiction of Metalman is as an adventurer who stumbled upon an ancient cult of skull faced cyberneticits. Really, a natural conclusion anyone would leap to. They have an interest in this metal-headed man who possibly teeters half into the realm of a cybernetic organism himself, and they pit him against their ultimate creation. The, er, transvestite, cyborg, cloned dinosaur to the right.

I'm really trying to up the detail level in my pieces, and I think this is a step in that direction:

Detail of Metalman image.

Now for the video test! I recorded the entire process of drawing an illo (which I ended up loathing - embarrassed to have even posted it, really). However, it gave me thirty very condensed minutes to throw a soundtrack on, so I did and here it is. This was more a test of Brightcove's video capabilities, which are pretty spiffy. I could've doubled the resolution of the video and still been within their free plan's limits.

Thirty minutes. Plus soundtrack. Hosted for free. Score.

I forget to mention that the baddies nomenclature is Trannysauras Rex.

it didn't even feel like a halfhour, amazing work...

Thanks, radio. People seemed to dig seeing process before, so when I recorded this I thought it might be cool to share.
