this is being pushed into the running after a short critique. What pretty much sealed the decision was a 'I need this!' compliment from an actual, legally handicapped blogger.....because this isn't about making fun of the handicapped, it's about scam artists and people with the brashness to take advantage of situations and thier literal definitions.....as well as just being ironic that a guy wheels into a space, locks his chair up and walks into the store.....it's a skit I always wanted to film..complete with the guy 'chirping' the chair's alarm...a detail I spared you from in this illustration!

some even say the guy isn't needed. i'd be willing to take him out for an even more simple design.

..shown are colors for AA girl's charcoal and silver..and i'm thinking it could work on men's khaki, light blue, or heather (urgh) as well.

thanks! go here for a big clear version!

pooner

i like this design a whole bunch. charcoal and dakota slate look the best.

foreignPorn

im legally handicapped :(

muahahaha i do this often.

rAnCh_e

hilarious...love it! $5

PhatFish

I really like the design, though I think I would like it better without the person walking away. As blandford said, the empty chair says enough and it's a bit more simple that way. Good design though.

theredhead

I kind of like the idea of the man walking away. Maybe he's not needed, but I kind of like it. All in all, definetly one I'd buy in a second! Good job!!

thekris

this is awesome!

nice!

kiLLyou

Great!

$5

chelly

so wrong that it is right

You should still do the film. I actually think this would be funnier in motion.

Wait, wha?

I guess I don't understand why the guy doesn't just take the wheelchair into the store....

ariana221

this is my favorite i've seen all night [thats out of a lot in case you didn't know] so yea - love it! i'd take with or without the guy, but i like it enough as is to buy it.

great! $5!

leahann

i have a huge problem with wanting to smash in the heads of people who abuse handicap spots so i absolutely love this shirt

leahann

opps ps. i like it better without the guy

wullagaru
wullagaru profile pic Alumni

yeah travis it may not need the guy but he doesnt hurt it either and Im for keeping is as I like the way you draw teh figure

travis76
travis76 profile pic Alumni

thanks guys. i agree it can work both ways: without the guy, it could be a hopeful OR a sarcastic message. ...without the guy it almost leans towards a positive message. ..like...who's chair was this? did they overcome their handicap and make a statement by locking up the chair for good? but with the guy, it's clearly an asshole issue, with only a minor feeling of 'so is he cured now?'.....but a stronger feeling of 'what a jerkwad' as he struts off....and i like the way he ended up, plus he has my bowlegged yet pigeon-toed walk... heh heh. but i could take it or leave it as you tell me.

p.s...my flickr is down- sorry

Dorisland

agree with "without the guy"

i like it with the guy. the guy who lives across the street from me is a paraplegic cop and he loves a good wheelchair joke. i'd buy this for him. and maybe for me too.

stubbythumbs

"the guy" is necessary.

this is amazing! on dakota slate please! 5$

I still think this is a fantastic design. But i still think it is an extremely dick thing to do that i would not want to support on my chest. But, like i said, great composition.

Botervlieg

It's good as it is now.

swieringa

The chocolate does not look good with the image colors. But the other two are great.

groovybabe

Very very awesome and the guy is needed to make a stronger statement.

Krazy667

I think you need to leave the guy in the design. It's like having a big F you in the picture. The picture of the gentleman wearing the shirt wouldn't has cool without the guy flipping the bird. I'd buy two

wempu

ahahah :D:D i lolled. this is great and filled with rebellious attitude (just like me, heh)! i'd buy!! 5$

prettydawg

this was sooooo funny, i was drinking milk, and it shot out my nose.
That should speak for itself

toomanytentacles

this design does not interest me.
but typing that sentence did.

lenoircouture

i agree that you should lose the person

travis76
travis76 profile pic Alumni

wow, toomanytentacles, your vote average is even suckier than mine

Aristarchus
Aristarchus profile pic Alumni

Can he call it a sentence if it didn't begin with a capital letter?

horror

$5 I would take out the guy and make the wheelchair and sign really large. Well thats me or leave him in and make it a tad larger. Great idea!

RedUnderTheBed

Nice! Great execution as it is, and nice colours!

hubavai

great idea.

madruga

Interesting... $4

squintygirl

My husband needs a wheelchair, so both he and I find this design both funny (because it's true) and sad (because it's true). Great work!

grayehound
grayehound profile pic Alumni

perfect illustration. it's one of those designs that'd look good on a tee but awesome as a poster.

eskimokiss
eskimokiss profile pic Alumni

I agree with graye.. and i love the colours

dragun

ya take off the dude

hyphen-dash

keep the guy walking. without him it wouldn't be nearly as good.

willypiva

5$! and agree with graye too

FLiPeo12
FLiPeo12 profile pic Alumni

My first 5$ ;)

travis76 profile pic Alumni

seriously? thanks, wow! i thought i would get a ton of crit about this. but i'm afraid the 50/50 split about the guy will doom this the same way that 'perils of modern science' and the 50/50 split on the text doomed that. we'll see! thanks again!

plink23

You need the guy, otherwise it's not perfectly clear that he's a jerk who isn't really handicapped. Great idea and execution... I dunno if it's necessarily a statement that a ton of people want to walk around wearing though? 4, good job.

i want it on my torso. and extra copies wrapped around my head and genitals just in case.
