Kevin Eastman, Publisher
Kevin Eastman turned his childhood love of comics and science fiction into a pop culture phenomenon with the creation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with partner Peter Laird. Self published in 1984, the comic’s first issue sold out of its 3000 copies overnight and quickly became a fan favorite. Eastman and Laird maintained full control of their creations while guiding them through toy licensing, TV series adaptation, and feature film exploitation, and by 1989 TMNT reached number one in all three categories. In between TMNT projects, Eastman established the Words and Pictures Museum of Cartoon Art; created an artist friendly publishing company, Tundra Publishing, where projects like The Crow, From Hell, and American Splendor first flourished; and purchased Heavy Metal magazine. Currently spending most of his creative time working on a new TMNT series with IDW Publishing, managing his fan club, preparing to launch his newest project Lost Angeles, and editing Heavy Metal, Eastman resides in San Diego with wife and business partner Courtney, son Shane, and a few insane Dachshunds.
Grant Morrison, Editor-in-Chief
Grant Morrison is one of the most successful and critically acclaimed writers in the medium of comic books. Credits include Batman: Arkham Asylum, The Invisibles, The Filth, WE3, Happy!, Klaus and many more. He has also completed best-selling runs on Animal Man, Doom Patrol, Batman, Superman, New X-Men, and JLA and is currently working on a series of Wonder Woman graphic novels. Most recently he has been collaborating on film and television adaptations of some of his stories. He is also a prominent Chaos Magician. He spends four months of the year in West Hollywood and the rest of the time in Scotland, with his wife Kristan, two cats, and a menagerie of stray and wild animals which rely on their charity.
Jeff Krelitz, Co-CEO
After cutting his teeth as a screenplay consultant for the likes of Richard Donner, Oliver Stone, Wolfgang Petersen, Trilogy Entertainment, MGM, Universal Pictures, Sony Pictures, Warner Brothers, and The Walt Disney Company, Jeff Krelitz became an executive in motion picture development at Columbia Pictures for former Universal Pictures chairman Marc Shmuger's production shingle, Art of War. As Heavy Metal co-CEO, Krelitz has piloted the company’s rebranding, from the legendary magazine to film and TV endeavors. Under Krelitz’s direction, Heavy Metal launched a stand-alone comics line with Hoax Hunters and served as production company on the 2014 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot. Current projects include a live-action adaptation of the Image comic Peter Panzerfaust and Red Brick Road, a sci-fi tinged Wizard of Oz sequel for Warner Bros. Television.
Brian Witten, President
A lifelong fan of the magazine, Brian Witten balances his role as president of Heavy Metal with a successful film producing career. Some of his productions include Spawn, Mortal Kombat 2, American History X, Dark City, Final Destination, The Wedding Singer, Little Nicky, Chernobyl Diaries and the reboot of Friday the 13th. Prior to independent producing, Witten served as president of Fangoria Films, the film division of the bestselling horror magazine in the world, as well as Executive Vice President at Paramount Pictures, where he oversaw such movies as Vanilla Sky, Without a Paddle, Longest Yard, Four Brothers, Mission Impossible 3, War of The Worlds, and was instrumental in the acquisition of Transformers and G.I.
