Marsupial and pastry have united to create the most devastatingly awesome creature to walk this pretty blue planet! We shall rise above the petty squabbles of the other houses and win with our dignity still in tact. Considering who the other houses are, this really shouldn't be that difficult.

Vote, create, duel and Threadless with all of your heart! And do a little smack talking while you're at it. Also some GIFs of butts and dancing, because GIFs.

Lol, don't anyone go drowning in my pattern here :) swimming is cool as long as you watch for the riptides. And don't try to save the unicorns. This is their fate.

first I need to give them an ocean to drown in.

I'm in love with your pattern, don't you know? :)

thanks everyone for kind words! I'm working on something for the "future" contest, but this sundey I will leave for my last week to the sea :) I will sub some stuff when I'll come back

lol :D

I know how you feel. I lived in a city that had access to the sea once and I loved it. There is a great sense of calm and freedom to it. We have a huge river right next to our house but it is really in no way the same. It just looks like a gigantic swampy overgrown pond and, though people swear they love it, I think it smells bad.

When i was at uni it was by the ocean, i really need to move back there or live this crappy country, it sucks arse here in the UK

Chayground

Here is my current concept for the science challenge. I really wanted to enter the contest but didn't have time to do all of the things I wanted to, so I did this instead.

I don't know that it is very threadlessy, but I'm still playing with it. I might try it with colours rather than glass. I don't know.

It's pretty different at least (different from my other stuff but also different from the other things in the challenge)

The concept is the law of "Entropy".

celandinestern
celandinestern profile pic Alumni

woah entropy looks wicked!!! I'd love to see the glass letters on white with some colors involved!

Portsmouth sounds nice :) Ships and beaches and stuff.

celandinestern

That looks like a bigass hypodermic needle.

But you can be on the coast in an hour, no? Not the nicest coast in the world, but still :)

celandinestern
celandinestern profile pic Alumni

I stayed for a while with some friends up in Leigh-on-Sea, and I'd get to London reasonably quick by train.

TheInfamousBaka

I really like Entropy, Chay! Did you use a 3D program or do it all by hand?

I used to live next to the ocean a long time ago and it was nice. We got to see sea turtles lay their eggs! :-)

Maybe lol I haven't checked how far from Nashville coast is

Me again.
Here is an entropy update.

I did try it on a white background but I think it's too confusing with the glass shards and I think it's better on black (or it might work on dark grey too)

Personally I like the black and white one at the top but I prefer the second one down where it isn't glass, more like rock, but has some nice CMY colour in it. (the closeup O is from that one, just so you can see the detailing.)

I created it mainly in a 3D program as I'm a 3D artist by training (then photoshopped over it) as I thought it was a good way to experiment with the style of it. (I moved all the pieces around by hand to get the effect I was after)

:)

What do you think?

From Nashville, I think it's about 7 or 8 hours, North Carolina being the closest shore that most people go to.

Holy Crap that is awesome. The Middle one, with the orange first letter, is the winner. So amazing.

I really like the second one down, that close up looks amazing. So many awesome colors!

Chayground

guess that's the one then. Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to get that onto a template and get it subbed. I had so many ideas for this challenge that had to be left unstarted, I'm glad I was able to get one of them done! :)

I think I'll include a closeup as one of my 3 tiles, as I think that helps sell the concept.

Chayground

I'm quite pleased with the technique. I might try creating a portrait in the same way at some point, just for fun, or as a regular threadless entry. Think that could look really nice, as it would resolve at a distance but be super detailed close up. :)

hahahah not you :)

Chay, second version is awwwwwesome!

Musarter
Musarter profile pic Alumni

Chay, I might include a black and white version with a the solid "E" versionin the presentation. Sometimes Threadless is skittish about printing process colors on black; a B/W version would give them another option.

hey tiffany I thought this was cool and thought id show you this is my phone, and look at the moon at the top is reflecting on the moon in the water! lol! mindblown!

Chayground

Thanks for the heads up Musarter. I'll add a black and white one in there somewhere. The design would work on dark grey as well but I don't want to overload the slides.

That's awesome! :-D And that's very observational of you, I don't think I would have ever noticed that. It makes me so happy to see my art getting some love. :-D

Chayground

On a related note. I'm quite keen to create more 3D based work, but I'm guessing that I shouldn't bother bother subbing to threadless? I think the ENTROPY one works though as it's all about the typography and the colour and detail and doesn't have characters in it.

I notice that there are barely any 3D designs on threadless I'm guessing because it perhaps didn't used to print well onto screen printed shirts, plus line drawing and block colour translates better, and some might say that 2D drawn stuff has more "life" to it, or maybe 3D just doesn't fit very well into (the admittedly quite broad) Threadless aesthetic?

Any thoughts?

I think you should give it a shot, Chay! Maybe do something like one of my favorite xiv prints where he mixes photography with bright colors. Something similar utilizing your 3D talents could be neat. :-)

It's here in Italy, on the big island called Sardinia ;) I love the spirit of the south, people are not so nervous and they can swim even in December!

Chayground

Here are my three slides for ENTROPY. Which do you think I should have as my first slide - the word on it's own, or the one with the O close up and the tee? I'm going to sub this soon as I won't have any time tomorrow.

Thanks :)

TheInfamousBaka
TheInfamousBaka profile pic Alumni

I'm torn between the first and second slide... but I think the second would probably be best for voters. It's less confusing. :-)

List is updated with new pies! Don't forget to VOTE for your fellow platypies.

Here is an old one that I never subbed. I finally colored it and I think it is ready to sub. Should I call it "Chuck" or "Chucks?" Any other thoughts?

Also Chay, I agree with Tiffany; the colored "Entropy" should be the first slide. Great looking mocks.

TheInfamousBaka
TheInfamousBaka profile pic Alumni

I think Chuck works the best. That's awesome, ahaha. His chest hair looks like ketchup. o.o

Chayground

Haha that Chucks image is great. As to the name I think Chucks would be best.

Entropy is now submitted. It's great to have a design in the system again! I've missed the constant worry that it's being down voted to hell!
