A Cartesian Dream
You know how dreams aren't restricted by time? For example lets say; one morning you wake up at 7:00 am, go back to sleep, have a long, rich and elaborate dream of an alternate life soaring over hills and trees, blissfully unaware that you're actually dreaming, then you wake up only to see that its 7:02 am and you're using up precious shower time.
I recently read, in an article, that when we die we have a few minutes of measurable brain activity. So what if right now, what we think we are experiencing as reality is really just a dream? A dream that we can never wake up from. Are the boundaries between dream and reality more permeable than what we imagine? Whats more unsettling is; from the infinite possibilities of the imagination, this, what you see all around you, your life, the ups, the downs, this is what you are dreaming, you chose to dream this. This idea certainly imposes a more visceral understanding of the word "mundane" doesn't it?
