Nolan and his Batman movies are tied to such tragedies. Heath’s Death in Dark Knight and this shooting for Dark Knight Rises. Such a shame. I think they got the gunmen alive.

I live 10 minutes away from it...

I was woken up today by my girlfriend telling me that the movie theater I joked about going to last night to see Batman at midnight was attacked and people were killed. It took me a second to process what she just said and then I thought about how a quick decision can change your life (or sadly, also end it). All I can say is be careful out there and be thankful that you're alive.

Jessica Redfield wrote this heartbreaking post on her blog after surviving the Eaton food court shooting... only to die in last night's theater shooting. She tweeted up until the movie started last night. I still can't comprehend this.. http://jessicaredfield.wordpress.com/

So sad, I think they said in the updated news that it was 12 dead.

Hope no Threadlessers were hurt! I guess it might put people off midnight screenings for a bit?

Yahoo News is asking for reactions from nearby residents so I sent something in. They wanted photos and this is one that I sent. Scary close. I have to find a new theater now. There's no way I could go back knowing what has taken place there.

you know whats bothering me more and more about this stuff is that all the same responses "it was like a movie...it was like a tv show...it was like..." this is coming across as a rant but in reality it's just a reflection of reality; we're inundated with uber graphic and supreme violence and told 'that's not real, just watch it' then when something like this happens we resort to our initial experience of "it's not real, just watch it" i'm not saying that i expect people to bumrush a guy with three guns especially after he's tactically tear gassed the place...turns out he was a failing doctorate student of neuroscience; a smart fucker. and his apartment/troll dwelling is booby trapped with flammable devices that have held the cops at bay currently and probably a couple more days.

no watch; it'll be "watch out of the socialists...the 99%'ers are dangerous. there are already political ties being associated with this travesty as well as connections to the character of BANE, as was mentioned in this blog earlier.

if that is the case, and people point at the art as instigator and blame art we're in trouble. i suspect that the larger, social injustices will only lead to more violence. i just hope it's not targetting innocent people and kids; i don't that connection in this instance. in short, dude's a coward.

shirtflirt

*is all the same responses. didn't mean to add "that".

The media always loves to blame something for the crime besides the person itself. It’s never the man was completely insane. It’s either…

Guns Video Games Movies Political Influences

Left, Right, Center, Up and Down all know this guy is a crazy person and no one justifies what he did. I’m sure this continue to something such as guns should be banned from the media or well movies are too violent type deal.

Banning something has never solved any problem

Haragos
Haragos profile pic Alumni

And no I don’t want this to become a political topic because that isn’t what it should be about. It’s a tragic tale of folks just wanting to get out and enjoy a movie and some guy completely out of his mind thinking this was his moment to make an impact. Such a shame.

No doubt this man will pay for his crimes.

shirtflirt

"all know this guy is a crazy person and no one justifies what he did."

abc first reported that this person "may have been pushed too far" or something to that effect...very compassionate of the victims. so...there's that.

shirtflirt

there no payable price that comes close to these crimes, that's the real injustice here.

Haragos
Haragos profile pic Alumni

Yeah that’s true. Apparently WB is thinking about canceling all the showings of the movie. I honestly don’t see what that going to accomplish.

shirtflirt

when colors, i believe it was, or boyz n the hood, first released there was some violence, a threat to pull the movie that never transpired and then the movie went on to be critically acclaimed

ya never know

Haragos
Haragos profile pic Alumni

yeah I’m sure Dark Knight Rises will actually make more money now which is pretty awful if you think about it. Look at what happened with Heath for the last film.

Holy Crap: Just saw this update on the news site I'm checking.

—The victims: A total of 71 people were shot during the attack, 12 of which died. Ten of those were killed in the theater, while the remaining two fatalities occurred after the victims had been transported to local hospitals. Of the 59 injured, "many" are in critical condition.

a tweet right before the shooting of one of the victims sad :(

“This empty, almost sickening feeling won’t go away,” she wrote. “I noticed this feeling when I was in the Eaton Center in Toronto just seconds before someone opened fire in the food court. An odd feeling which led me to go outside and unknowingly out of harm’s way. It’s hard for me to wrap my mind around how a weird feeling saved me from being in the middle of a deadly shooting.” Zubin Mehenti, a former FOX31 Denver sp
