One second...

memories + music bc I'm feeling reflective

Sometimes I think music has more of an effect on me than smells when it comes to digging up old memories.

I know I'm going to be judged for the pathetic music that elicits an emotional response from me...but don't think I don't have an eclectic taste in music. It just so happens that at the moment these are the ones that affect me. :D yay...

I guess I could turn these into links to youtube videos, but chances are no one would click them anyway.

Songs that make me...not necessarily sad, but make me relive sadness.

SuperRyan

what phase/moment is T.I.?

mooseinmyshoe

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH KEITH URBAN

kashlen

HAH

It reminds me of my last year in school (last spring). I was stressed all the time because of classes and worrying about failing out of college, and rap helped me stay upbeat instead of listening to like...ben harper and freaking out I was singing about how I can have "whatever I like..."

Chipmnk

Oh hey, I was thinking of making a blog like this.

Every time I listen to "Anyone Else But You" by The Moldy Peaches, I think of boysbeamPriscilla. It just kind of happens. And I have no problem with it.

kashlen

Every time I listen to Dr. Dog - Heart It Races I think of omair

maybe that's why it's on my happy list

Thanks Becca! I like your off topic comment

Chipmnk

"Between the Bars" by Elliott Smith will always and forever be associated with the summer of 2008.

While Regina Spektor's "Hero" will always be associated with this past summer, and listening to it will always give me the feeling of someone punching me in the stomach.

Chipmnk

Also, that Regina Spektor song will always make me think of that one scene from 500 Days of Summer. Which also connects to last summer.

It all adds up to me feeling completely and utterly gutted.

kashlen

I need to listen to some of these suggestions. I recently heard some of Phoenix's and Elliot Smith's stuff... I like.

Thanks Khol!

PEAR!! :D Yep! I have a jerk friend on facebook that wrote on my wall all like, "kerry, I didn't know you had a baby!!" (huhyuck huhyuck...aka goofy laugh to show how not amused i am..)

Alwin, I hate feeling gutted. Songs that shouldn't make me sad sometimes make me sad.

marblecargirl

Oh man, I loooooooove Sia's Breathe Me. Amazing song.

kashlen

Yeah, i love it aubz. Although I found it disturbing because I randomly go through weird phases where I look up disturbing videos or facts on the internet for awhile then I get over it and look at happy things again. But once, with a friend, we were surfin the ole youtubealube and found these thinspiration videos and like every other video had sia's song on it

canceromega

I have far too many. The best example I can think of right now is that one time I put "Your Ex-Lover is Dead" by Stars on repeat the night over this past summer when my then-boyfriend broke up with me. I think I ended up listening to it over 200 times in a row while I took a couple shots of whiskey and sat alone on the back porch.
That sounds incredibly depressing, but it was one of the more comforting songs at the time.

kashlen

Anna, yeah I have songs like that...though this one was farther along in the process. I used to listen to it on my commute to school in the mornings.

There's a song called "Johnny and June" that reminds me of happy times but I can't listen to it

kashlen

hah, don't worry, I understood what you were saying..

also, best i've ever had by vertical horizon used to be really depressing when I still thought that...then my brain started working

kashlen

I love that picture and I could totally see all those artists going with staring at pretty landscape.

it kind of makes me want to dance with somebody but it kind of makes me want to cry

I couldn't agree more.

that bill bourne song just sounds cozy...like you're drinking hot chocolate with family by a fire or something

kashlen

Yeah, that's why I think some of my choices are weird because there are songs that make me happy or sad that to others would have an opposite effect.

I don't know! I would never think i'd like lady gaga but I have one of her albums....

kashlen

but seriously. what. the. fuck. is up with her outfits. they go in places they shouldn't...like that shirt she has one

kashlen

er...it's late... I meant *on

kashlen

an estrangement shirt?

i is confused

kashlen

sj, yeah! It's a great cover. I listened to it this morning on my way to work. :D

I've never heard that Stars song. I need to youtube it apparently.

kashlen

I think she's just conservative about showing her cleavage...

courtney pie

Amazing Grace always makes me cry.
I love When A Man Loves A Woman by Percy Sledge makes me all choked up.

Feel That Fire by Dierks Bentley makes me happy

Alanis Morissette Jagged Little Pill makes me flashback to 19yrs old

courtney pie

everytime I hear Dirty Deeds by AC/DC I think of the time I went to a Jimmy Kimmel taping haha

kashlen

I also like Feel That Fire and Alanis Morissette totally gives me flashbacks!! But it gives me flashbacks to preteen years...

marblecargirl

This song reminds me of breaking up with that dude I was with for 7 years.

and this song will forever remind me of the AF dude i dated for awhile. when he played this for me 3 months in, and was singing it to me I guess i should have had a clue
<object width="320" height="265"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/2Cx7HmfvJ9M&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/2Cx7HmfvJ9M&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="320" height="265"></embed></object>

and this always reminds me of elementary school

marblecargirl

Hahahaha Vanilla Ice! So elementary school. My cousins and I used to sneak the cassettes of both him and Sir Mix-A-Lot into the cab of my uncle's truck so we could listen to them without getting into trouble from my super strict aunt.

This is heartbreak, and dischord.

No account?
