Let's all get to know each other! (Especially CHICAGO people I'm about to meet!)
Okay, I'll admit it -- I haven't been around nearly enough in the last.... year or so. But golly if there aren't a TON of you fine folks out there who I keep scratching my head at every time I read your username. New or seasoned blogger vets, there are a LOT of you guys who I still know almost nothing about. I'll accept the blame; I've been a bad friend. Please forgive me?
Especially now that I'm about to meet so many of you in Chicago, I really want to get to know you a little bit better before hand. Odds are I will still have trouble calling you by the right IRL name, but I promise I really will try.
But this is not limited to just Chicago-goers!! Please take the time to introduce yourself even if you fully expect/hope to never meet me ever during the course of your natural life.
To help facilitate this getting-to-know-you-ism, I have thrown together a short(ish) survey of questions I think would help me better understand your true characters. And to better help you get to know me, I took it upon myself to fill it out first! Please copy/paste the below survey and fill in all your answery goodness. Feel free to add your own questions (and then answer them) if you feel there is stuff I ought to know! :)
Do you have a peepee or a vajayjay?
What do fleshy real-life people call you in fleshy real life?
How old are you right this very second? (this site can help)
23 years, 5 months, 1 hour, 46 minutes, 48 seconds
What does your face look like? (pics recommended)
Where are you from?
I am officially a GOhioan and have lived the last 5 years in Columbus for school. Before that I'm from Pittsburgh.

I was born in Michigan but moved to PA when I was 1. From there I moved to Asheville, NC for 4 years when I was a kid before moving back to PA when I was 9.
Where were your super old folks from?
I'm mostly German, a little bit English, and then a tiny tiny bit of a billion other things, all of which are boring old whities.
The people who birthed you, did they birth others?
I have an older brother named Scott that strangers always tell me looks exactly like me. Seriously, people constantly ask if we are twins every time we hang out in public. We do not look that much alike.
WHAT YOU DO WITH YOUR TIME
Are you a student? If so, where do you go and what are you learnin' about? Do you like it?
I'm about to start grad school in Computer Science & Engineering at Ohio State University. I'm hoping to focus on cryptography, networking, database systems, and modern web-based technology. I haven't started yet, but I'm hoping I like it as much as I think I will!
Do people pay you money to do stuff? If yes, what are you doin' for money (and where)? Do you like it?
I AIN'T GOT NO JOB, YO! Hopefully I can find something part-time that I can do during the school year. I wanted a TA position that would waive my tuition; maybe I can still get one of those and just get paid hourly instead.
Do you like to watch moving pictures? If so, What are some films that tickle your pickle?
I have probably watched about three thousand movies in my life, give or take a few. I love film. My favorite movie of all time is Amelie. I love all sorts of movies, but especially dramedies and quirky indie/art-house flicks. I also have seen, own, and love hundreds of hilariously bad action/horror/sci-fi movies. I am an absolute sucker for zombies. The most recent movies I've seen are: Humpday, (500) Days of Summer, and Adam. I really enjoyed all three!
What kind of tunes have you been kickin' out the jams to as of late?
I enjoy a wide variety of music, but most of the time I listen to folk/indie/electronica stuff. Lately I've been listening a lot to Bowerbirds, Sea Wolf, Passion Pit, Anni Rossi, Grizzly Bear, etc... I just started listening to Miike Snow in the last week or two and liked it a lot. Anna sent me the new Atlas Sound album and it is fantastic!
Do you make/do/create/etc anything particularly awesome?
I like to doodle, and I also really enjoy sewing small stuffed plush things. A rare few threadlessers have been lucky enough to receive something I've sewn!
Do you toot your own horn? (Or play any other instruments, for that matter)
Margo and I just bought matching metal kazoos... I think that counts. I also took 4 years of piano lessons when I was a wee youngen.
What do you watch on the boob-tube?
I really enjoy British comedies (Peep Show, Spaced, The Office, Extras, Green Wing, Garth Marenghi's Dark Place, etc) as well as American comedies (Seinfeld, 30 Rock, The Office, Reno 911, Curb Your Enthusiasm). I am super excited for Dexter and Californication to start back up again. Lately I have started watching a hell of a lot of The Food Network because it is quite literally porn for my stomach. I have absolutely fallen in love with Alton Brown and enjoy Good Eats as much or more than just about any other thing on television. I also really love the Discovery channel, especially Myth Busters.
Do you and others run around with a ball?
I am not really a sports guy at all, though I did play little league baseball and soccer as a kid. In college I played ping pong at least once (sometimes several) times a day every single day for about 2 years!
Do you and virtual others run around with a virtual ball/gun/Pokemon/sword/steering wheel/etc?
Ever since I came to college (and didn't really bring any gaming system with me), I have played almost zero video games. But back in the day, I played them all the freakin' time! I love Mario, Zelda, Tetris, GTA, and most action/adventure/platformer games. I've never really been into RPG's much.
Do you drink bitter bean water (coffee) or leafy leaf water (tea)?
Ewwwwwwwww sticks out tongue Though I will admit that I am slowly, slowly becoming more open to tea. Still not really a fan, but I'm more accepting.
What's your favorite kind of berry?
Probably a tie between blackberries and raspberries. Boysenberries are pretty freakin' good too, though.
Whose cuisine reigns supreme?
I am a huge fan of Indian, Thai, Mexican, Chinese, Greek, Middle Eastern, Italian, and Southwestern food. Basically, I really, really love big, bold, spicy flavors. That said, I am still a sucker for a good steak-'n'-potatoes.
Who's your favorite poetic architect of the written word?
Oh gosh, I am embarrassingly under-read, and I don't remember which authors wrote which books nearly well enough these days. That said, I'm a fan of Vonnegut and Chuck Palahniuk, and I really loved Everything Is Illuminated when I read that last year. I also really love Douglas Adams, George Carlin, and David Sedaris.
What's your favorite hue to view?
My favorite color is probably some kind of steel blue.
Favorite way to move from one place to another?
I enjoy walking, biking, and driving if I'm the driver. Being the passenger in a car and flying on an airplane are just too passive for me to say I enjoy them -- it just feels like you're sitting in a chair. I do really like the view, though.
What do you like to strap to your feet?
I just bought a pair of Onitsuka Tiger Ultimate 81's. I absolutely love them.
What's your favorite place to journey to?
I haven't traveled nearly enough to have a favorite travel destination. I really, really enjoyed my trip out to Portland I just did a week or so ago. Visiting Hawaii was also pretty beautiful. I'd really love to visit Iceland, New Zealand, and a bunch of places in Europe.
What's your favorite collection of words on paper?
My favorite book is officially The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.
What is your favorite game on a board?
BALDERDASH! 100%. I also like Clue.
What's your favorite way to squeeze food between bread?
Oh man, favorite sandwich? That's so hard! I used to make these buffalo chicken subs with grilled peppers and onions and pickles and omg, they were so delicious.
What's your favorite fluid squeezed from a fruit?
I used to drink this Ocean Spray White Cranberry Strawberry juice that was absolutely amazing. Usually I buy the frozen Welch's Whit Grape Peach.
What's your favorite sweet treat?
I don't really like candy all that much. That said, I do really love chocolate, especially dark chocolate with fruit in it. I also have a soft spot for Twix, Snickers, and 100 Grand bars. I also really like sesame candy, but I tend to not chew them well enough and the seeds end up in my poo :(
What's your favorite beast of the wild?
Oh god now that is hard. My favorite land animal might be the Japanese flying squirrel known as a Momonga. Maybe. My favorite sea animal is probably the sperm whale.
What's your favorite breed of baby dog?
My favorite kind of puppy is Brussels Griffon! Or actually, that's my favorite breed of dog. As far as puppies go, man, I don't know... Maybe Corgis?
What is your favorite Threadless tee?
That's really tough, and I probably can't pick just one. But I have always been really quite partial to The Motive.
What's your dad like?
My dad is an Electrical Engineer that over the years has had obsessions/hobbies involving orchids, exotic fish, coin collecting, lapidary, cacti, LED flashlights, and most recently, antique radios.
What's your third most easily exploitable fear/weakness?
I am absolutely unable to handle filmy, sticky, grimy surfaces. Seriously, they make my skin crawl and I want to die.
What's your favorite hypothetical name for a pet slug?
If you could be any number between 17 and 243, which would you choose?
If you could only eat Beef Stroganoff or Chicken Patties for the rest of your life, which would you choose?
If we're talking reconstituted breaded chicken patties, DEFINITELY the beef stroganoff. But if we're talking actual chicken breast, maybe even Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwich chicken patties, definitely the chicken.
What is your least favorite body part (on people in general, not on you specifically)?
Write me a haiku about bacon.
The only pig meat I eat.
Makes all things better.
ADD YOUR OWN IF I LEFT STUFF OUT!
PS - I realize this is actually quite long, so I guess you can skip whatever questions you want. I guess.
