Special requirements: The black outline of the star should be a puffy ink, in my opinion. The star points are meant to continue onto the back of the shirt. Otherwise, such decisions are best left to those marketing the design.
After reading the design challenge I thought to myself, "I could no sooner pick a single star in the sky." Each star composes the remarkable image we see at night. In other words, I am captivated and inspired by all the pieces that contribute to life. So for my first submission I choose to depict a star bleeding from the heart. The star itself is a sketch where I used many biological textures: blood cells, coral, fish scales, bacterium and more. Each texture unique and created from seemingly mundane sources, but together lollapalooza. A single star may be amazing but it is the bigger picture that takes your breath away.
