if you stop next to someone at the lights you have to race them. if you lose you fail.

squintygirl

Don't go into the test thinking you'll fail. Just be calm and trust your instincts. And always ask the examiner to clarify an instruction if you don't understand what he/she asks you to do, or if you think what they are asking is unsafe.

eXtrachunky

i think i'm a pretty good driver but it's probably this nervousness reacting haha.

my only problem is stopping before the line heh

good luck

DON'T STOP PAST A STOP SIGN. Actually, it probably depends on what stat you're in but...
i'm in Washington and that's a big no no. also, don't stop on a cross walk. that'll get ya neg. points.
Relax. be nice to the grumpy tester.

skafiend007

Keep your eyes closed the whole time. Instructors are impressed by a very confident driver.

Noodlegirl

Good luck.

Mine was so easy, because at this specific place, it was in a residential area, so I drove at most 35, and over some railroad tracks. That was it.

skafiend007

Turn the radio up real loud and light up a doobie. It will so the tester that you are completely relaxed behind the wheel, which is a good thing.

eXtrachunky

i also don't get why parallel parking is on the test. most including myself will never use it and i rather find a different spot to park instead of using parallel

Noodlegirl

Gross, you have to parallel park? We didn't...we just had this maneuverability part..

eXtrachunky

skafiend, brilliant. hotboxing is the way to go. it's a win win situation

Mac_Pappy

you really have to parallel park? In california they removed it from the test. All you have to do is back up in a straight line. don't hit the curb when you park, you autofail if you do that.

skafiend007

Glad I could help. And if it's the good sh*t, he might want to take a hit too. Then you got him!!! He HAS to pass you now!!! Bring a camera...

skafiend007

Don't knock parellel parking. Trust me, you WILL use it later in life. It's not like calculus. What are you gonna do, drive around for hours when there's a perfectly good spot right in front of the store?

peater

aaalways stop at unprotected intersections, like in residential areas.

It's an automatic fail if you don't, at least in CA.

eXtrachunky

yeah i live in nevada and downtown is usually where they have the parallel parking spaces. oh well, good thing i'm pretty good at it.

good luck! The best advice I can give is to not be nervous! Just relax and know you can take the test again!

thekevinmcgraw

60%? i doubt it. i missed no points on the road or written test, i missed all of the points you can and still pass on the parking. oh well.

eXtrachunky

i forgot the exact number kevin but i know it's a pretty high percentage lol

todiefor

adjust the seat before you put your seat belt on

I didn't even have to take the test. I took driver's ed, and at the end, they just gave me the papers. I already knew how to drive anyways.

thekevinmcgraw

hmm, no one i know failed. and i know a girl who drove on the wrong side of the road her first day with a license.

courtney pie

watch out for the yield part, actually yield, don't just stop.
and after you go thru a stop, make sure to look back to make
sure you're not about to crash.

good luck!

eXtrachunky

haha i was thinking of wearing ctrl+z.

AsStarsGoOut

my test didn't have parallel parking.

what are you bad at the most? for me it was backing into a parking space. I got up early that morning and practiced for like an hour.

I got 2 minor mistakes, I forgot to put my blinker on as i pulled away from the curb, and i apparently take corners too fast. So basically come to a complete stop almost when you turn.

AsStarsGoOut

my sister failed, she bumped the curb while she was doing a three point turn.

AsStarsGoOut

we live in a town where we wouldn't need parallel parking, so they decided to take it off the test.

AsStarsGoOut

all i had to do was drive out of the parking lot of the driving school, go down a side street and do a 3 point turn, and then drive up to the porn shop and back into a space. Then I was clear. It was simple. I had most trouble on the written test because I didn't take the driver's education course, just the driving school where i was on the road, so I didn't know the questions very well.

my drivers test was similar to AsStarsGoOut

I pulled out...3 point turn...and came back!

but what lacked in actual driving he did verbally question me on rules of the road...so that does come up

AsStarsGoOut

my instructor didn't even talk to me at all. he was so bitter.

i have absolutely no clue how to parallel park, i only did it once, so at my work there's a tiny parking lot, and then the rest you have to parallel park, so im screwed if all the spaces are taken in the parking lot.

courtney pie

omg. i really hope i don't run into people who weren't fully tested out in the rest of the world! haha.

eXtrachunky

well i suck at backing up to park but i'm pretty sure that isn't on the test. thank god we don't have a written test heh

and what's a 3 point turn!?!? o_O

d3d
d3d profile pic Alumni

you score 3 points if you turn without the car rolling. 10 points if you roll and burst into flames.

Maltzmania
Maltzmania profile pic Alumni

hahahaha yeh what d3d said

courtney pie

lmao d3d!

i don't know how to make the link clicky
http://golocalnet.net/drive/3pttrn.htm

and if they have parallel parking, then you're gonna have to back up to park. and no written test?! but how do they know you know the rules of the road?!

Alexandra Marie

If you honestly don't know what a 3 point turn is you're fucked, haha.

eXtrachunky

ohh yeah i dont think we have 3 point turn. my instructor never said anything about that i think...

for the written test, i dunno lol. we had to take one to get a permit but that's it

Maltzmania
Maltzmania profile pic Alumni

hahaha 3 point turn might come up...just a hunch. it's uber-easy

eXtrachunky

yeah from what that animation did, it looks pretty easy to do so no worries hehe

courtney pie

oh! it's a u-turn? haha.
we had written for permit and on the day of.
i think after the driving part, i dunno, it was a while ago.

eXtrachunky

woo i passed! haha thanks guys

82% lolz

60% fail their first time?

I only got 1 point off my driving test. And it was because I reversed at a slight angle. ha

congrats btw

eXtrachunky

gah i would have aced it if i wasn't so nervous. oh wells.

thanks courtney :]

eXtrachunky

haha i know it sounds extremely high but that's what my instructor said . the percentage is near 60 or so

Torakamikaze
Torakamikaze profile pic Alumni

its probably just part of the instructors scheme to actually reach 60%, making every kid nervous by making up ridiculous percentages

Omair

I'm so glad that I didn't have to take an actual written test to get my license.
