"Every revolution needs propaganda. VIVA VERDE!"
Is the guy on the right George W?
Illustration is awesome, of course it looks better on green (I don't like the square arround the other one) and you should loose the text, it's not needed at all.
It wasn't meant to be George W but it does kinda resemble him.
cool! I prefer the one without the border as well.

Are these colors available for this comp?
the color on the right is available in this comp.
Yes that was my inspiration among other soviet designs, Ive been looking at a lot of different propaganda art from the 40's lately but, I made the lines and the color a lot softer.
i love the original poster, but making such a clear copy of it is a little cheap.
I like it, looks like communist design, which is cool!
calling it a copy is a little harsh. she clearly re-illustrated it. i personally think it's very strong and a good use of a very iconic historical piece. there's plenty of artists that have borrowed ideas.
in terms of it being cheap. this isn't clip art, this isn't a feigned attempt at creativity. if you don't like the idea, that's fine, but the illustration is, as far as i can tell, an original piece based on a existing piece.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PIECE!!!
hope you win!
its not copying, its playing off the soviet poster. Amazing design i would wear it
calling it a copy is a little harsh. she clearly re-illustrated it.
Um, it looks like a photoshop filter to me.
"Um, it looks like a photoshop filter to me."
wow, I had no idea a twist on a well-known poster would have this kind of reaction, and if you look at the posters side by side you would see the pathing is completely different and clearly could not be achieved by a simple photoshop filter.
wardrobe, your comment is ridiculous! you clearly have NO idea what you're talking about!
i'm sorry to be mean, but come on!!!
this isn't a recent piece, and as far as i can find, there's no artist given explicit credit for it. there's at least 15 people on this website alone who have used other propaganda posters as a jumping off point for their shirt designs. try doing some research before making inflammatory comments.
not that i'm trying to call anyone else out but...
this is "plagiarizing" two very famous, well publicized pieces... Mario Bros (obviously) and the text borrowed right from Rene Margritte's painting, "Ceci n'est pas une pipe"
spacechicken, Ceci n'est pas une pipe is a play on art and pop culture, that's not plagiarizing.
this however is tracing someone else's work and while she added style to it by re-doing it...she still copied straight off of another piece. uncool.
and the mario pipe and piranha flower isn't?
i'm fairly certain the text from the rene margitte painting is right from/traced from the original text too.
i'm not saying that little g's shirt isn't a clever play on pop-culture, but how is one play on popular art (which clearly has re-produced artwork), different from another (which also has clearly re-produced artwork). you people are too harsh.
I think the difference here is that the mario shirt is more of a montage style of taking two elements and putting them together. Especially since the the pipe and flower in itself is not really an art piece, nor the text 'ceci n'est pas une pipe". Whereas in this case, the strongest element is the actual illustration and composition of the piece.
wow - everyone take a deep breath and chill!
No one's ideas are 100% original - this is very close to the original yes but I thought that was the whole point behind the idea/concept!
I really like it - well done! :)
I don't think it looks like a filter. I think you clearly re-illustrated this. But it might be better if it were drawn a little differently. Only because there are so many blatant knock-offs on this site, you want to make it clear that yours is an allusion that you want people to realize, not a rip-off you're trying to get past people.
@ eatcho: Agreed. :) Excellent compromise.
On this last day of voting I want to say thanks to everyone for posting their comments good, bad or indifferent.
