Puff in used for the Braille. Check out the little message at the bottom!

Interesting concept, but I don't like the message.

Raphe10

i dont think i blind person could read this...

vinnylo

if your not blind, you can probably wear this...

A.S.S.

iwillbprincess

I'm not deaf or blind either $5

John Holland

Has there been another shirt like this before? It's a great concept, but can't shake that feeling of deja vu...

John, it was mine - I just added the Braille (now that puff ink is available) and upped the impact on the hand signals.

"I think deaf people already know they're deaf and don't need your shirt to tell them so. Blind people wouldn't be able to read it anyway. So pointless and sort of insulting"

I think you are missing the point. It's not a public information announcement to help deaf people realise they can't hear! It is just a comment that the majority of people who look at it won't know what it means but if you are deaf you probably can understand it. Therefore if you can read it you are probably deaf. It is in no way insulting deaf people, or blind people.

As far as the braille goes, I would suspect that even fewer sighted people could read it than the sign language so it is even more relevant. You have to feel it to read it, hence the puff ink. At the end in smaller braille it says 'and copping a feel'. so if a blind person was to read it with their fingers then they could have a little chuckle at that at the end.

Squirt13 - Just to be pointless and insulting, perhaps you could get your grammar right if you're going to comment on something that you obviously don't understand. What you should have written was "You're right, pointless and insulting" instead you suggested that it is my right to be pointless and insulting.

leighta

I like this. It's witty and ironic, not insulting.

The first comment does say that the braille is in puff ink...

Chuckyfreak

hmmmm...i like it a lot. i think we make enough jokes for people that CAN see and hear, why not have one for those that can't? it's funny, but it's obvious that it won't get printed because there are too many uptight voters. sorry JB.

koager

not sure
but think it has been done before
just not in specialty inks

dounoyerabcs

what does it say though?

The Jolly Brewer
The Jolly Brewer profile pic Artist

It says:

In ASL - If you can read this you are probably deaf

In Braille - If you can read this you are probably blind and copping a feel

ImNoLo

don't you love it when people jump to conclusions before reading things? Goodness...

ImNoLo

oh, and since nobody seems to be commenting on the look rather than the message... I'd like it in charcoal and blue.

OK - To the people who are saying they have seen this before - It was me. This is a re-sub! I've amended it and added the braille.

To all the sensitive souls who seem to be offended, funny that both a deaf person and a blind person both think this is funny, and are not offended.

ImNoLo - I know, how many times do I have to repeat myself?

If I were deaf or blind and saw someone wearing this shirt I would punch them in the throat.

If I were deaf and heard someone say that I'd die laughing.

asfi235

I think there's a mistake in the Braille....

Avalonian Piehead

I love it. Hilarious!!! Definitely not insulting. If I was deaf, I would probably be laughing even harder.

indigoboo

The braille is definitely wrong. The 'Y' in 'You' does not correspond to the 'Y' in 'probably'. In fact none of the letters in that second word correspond to the same letter in other words on the shirt.

The Jolly Brewer

Yeah, it is wrong. Dunno what I've done there! Easily fixed...

Randolph Carter

If I am typing this, then I must be here!

This is cooky and politcally awkward, but not incorrect. I think it is probably one of the best tees that I have viewed in a while as it looks good, has a point, I'd buy and wear it, if my maw didn't fill my wardrobe and knowing the meaning, would have a little to say about it. I and my maw like it. Have a guess what I'M getting next birthday!

Wow, quite a split in response to this one!

liberatesputnik - nice idea, I see/hear what you are saying.

that's if I last that long!

Chris, I swear you are totally bonkers!

seanistidy

Yeah, I like it, and am enjoying ALL the comments.

Maybe if it had a comedy factor for both , like if it said:

In ASL - If you can read this you are probably deaf, but stop staring!

In Braille - If you can read this you are probably blind and copping a feel

Since deaf and blind people endorse this design, I stand corrected. Good luck!

The Jolly Brewer

"realize" is the American spelling. I am English so I spell it the correct way, which is "realise". But I stand corrected on the rest of what you said.

My grammar is not great. I'm the first to admit it. But You're and Your are two different words with completely different meanings. Although You're is actually two words.

Ok it was petty of me to insult a little nipper like that, but it annoyed me. And maybe they have learned something, just like I have from LeahSue's little grammar lesson.
