This was inspired by a WW2 prison camp advert I saw a few weeks ago. It's another entry for Staffell's Joy of Text II blog competition.
Are those hand-drawn text? 'Coz I believe that's what staffell implemented as a rule.
Yes, it's hand-drawn. I set it in illustrator first to get the look I wanted, then redrew it by hand once I was happy with it. The only vectors are the two boxers.
very nice steven
to see a larger version of this if you need to.
Nice, love it!!!
awesome tee! love it!
That's my limit. Very nice by the way.
I'm also probably wrong aout the font.
yes, yes you are… but thanks for playing debs!
I like to feel involved.
My brain hurts just thinking about hand lettering all of that. In a design that would have so easy to go way overboard with, you've stuck a perfect balance of form and color. Incredible!
excellent text work (i'd say typography, but its more writography)
Something with this much text needs to be on the back of the shirt. It's less awkward to have people stalking behind you than walking backwards in front of you if they want to read your shirt.
Love it, so much better than those reading and glastonbry festival tshirts you see everyone in.
i agree with ian, your hand must be really sore :/
Turned out great though! 5$
absolute agony pazz, I had to keep taking breaks!
i'd wear that. i love old boxing posters.
Good stuff Steven. It's not a fair game of course, only one of them is wearing gloves!
haha, remember that it's Willie Pep he's fighting though - he'd need some kind of advantage! (One for the boxing fans out there)
i would buy it
Reminds me of those old Wendy's table-tops from ~10 years ago. The ones that looked like old-timey newspapers.
I used to love reading the adds on those while eating 5-piece nuggets with my grandma & grandpa.
sigh But now G-Pa's gone, and G-Ma is alone. :-(
I really gotta go visit my grandma more often. wistful chagrin
Good design though!
