Conflict of styles.
I love paint by numbers. The fact that someone could take Gainsborough's beautiful work and do this to it seems natural now, but he's probably turning in his grave. I've always thought that the abstract patterns look similar to camouflage, and so I combined this with my love of comics, and paid homage to Sgt Rock also.
The blue is an actual entire piece drawn and numbered by myself, and could be a belt print. The over print is 2 colour (if the green can be transparent ink) or 3 colour (if not.) 3 or 4 colours total.
Check out my profile/blog for a close up of the process.
