Thanks Arrow...and hey, people buy shirts with Mickey Mouse on them, as far as I know!
Yes, and people buy meat on a stick wrapped in a pancake too, that doesn't mean its any good or it should be bought.
PS- I do think you are a decent artist.
your illustration work is amazing on this series. I also love your use of color blending...the content is kinda stale, though. They have a postage stamp feel to them. Please continue subbing work, though...I think if you found the right concept you could be printed quickly.
seems less a parody and more a tribute
There are a lot of movies out about Santa Claus right now, but I wouldn't buy a tshirt with a portrait of him on it. It's essentially a captioned portrait...and this particular portrait has been done at least 1000+ times on a tshirt. I'm just saying that perhaps, rather than a portrait, you can use the image as part of a concept. Not trying to offend.
something else you might want to consider - the black type / communist-style font doesn't really mesh well with the illustration style. I know you said you were parody-ing propaganda posters, but I think it would work better if you were able to integrate one aspect into the other (either the hard-edge, black starkness of the type into the soft lines/overlapping color of the image - or vice versa). Personally - I'd prefer them (the series pieces) without the text and just blow the image up/off the shirt.
actually - something like this as a jump print could be cool.
that should be jumbo - not jump
