An American Idol once said that “In the future everyone will be famous for fifteen minutes!”
The future is now!
I think this statement displays a profound awareness of human nature and is both a reflection and prediction central to the ideologies of the pop art movement …
In turn this passage inspired me to better understand humanity in the present world by trying to find out how Andy’s quote was relevant today. I soon began focusing on people’s insatiable relationship with the media. I needed to find the essence of fame in today’s culture and then find a way to cleverly and succinctly depict it.
My research had many focuses including advertising, photography, print, viral, word of mouth, television and of course web but my main focus areas soon became reality TV and the internet. From there I took an idea and found appropriate and specific examples that I thought would best convey my message.
To get a good understanding of the way Warhol thought I was forced to look closely at the inherent beauty within the subject matter, of things we see every day and pay little attention to. By harnessing the existing power of the chosen logos and reapplying them to Warhol’s saying I was then able to add validity to Andy’s words
Hopefully the end result succinctly conveys the ingenious foresight of Warhol’s statement. It was a joy to design something for this contest. I have always thought of threadless as a glorious embodiment of pop art. A place where witty, beautiful, brilliant, yet supposedly low culture designs are embraced, encouraged and held in high regard, considered the equal of high brow art hanging on gallery walls.
simulated process design on a white shirt
Thanks for looking
Yes! I love how subtle yet recognizable the logos are. Very well presented!
great idea, great pop life design 5
you're awesome, dude! great concept and execution, i want it!
nice! clever idea :)
Well executed! The bananas are a nice touch too.
so clever! $
so good $$
Awesome! I'd like it better on a non-white shirt thouhg
hahah! awesome take! really clever!
wow super clever.
nice use of text and logo marks. I like the use of the banana as quotes. 5
you may like mine. I also used an Andy Warhol quote. If you'd like to comment mine - <span class="blue page_head">Haring + Warhol</span>
oh sweet it's up, sorry about the long winded explanation, thought i better add another explanation just in case you didn't get enough...
oh the irony!!!
This is brillaint, Damn I will I had thought of it. You awesome $5
awesomeeee concept!!!! LOVE$5
this is genius
a logo is a very specific thing, these are not logos, it is a sentence that shares familiar attributes to several logos and in its entirety is a totally different thing all together
stephaknee88 i'd love to tell you but i wouldn't dare ruin all of your fun:) perhaps others will be kinder than i am:P
besides threadless are pretty tight with copyright issues, if they approve it that's a good start:)
haha stephaknee88 that's the idea...
I say this is rather spiffy clever - well done.
this is pretty damn awesome
to stephaknee99, here's wat i got that u didn't write:
Blogger, Twitter, Wikipedia.
So, thats everything except the banana quotes, the word "in", and the word "for"
Love it man! 5$
Way to totally rape the modern world of logos and famous making programs to indulge in the best use of logo manipulation I think i've ever seen! Andy McCambellsSoupFace would be mightily proud of this.
actually looks pretty good and is very relevant to today.
And I thought you couldn't speel?
this is great!!
nice logo implement. this is really great worl. love it.
winner! must 5$! :))
So much coolness !!!
Really clever and very well done. Just doesn't look that great on the tee, imho.
Very clever concept and well-executed!
thanks guys, i think the google logo slightly compromises the aesthetic with it's colours but i thought it was fundamentaly important enough to the concept to include it
also if i was being analy retentive the overall composition of the shirt the andy warhol signature would be slghtly smaller, i just wanted it to be clear to read
to be honest i thought the shirt looked suprisingly good, but i'm quite happy to adress a couple of issues if the design is chosen for print
PS: love the haters
and Gnnd if you think this concept is the same as the very obscure reference you made, i think you missed the whole point of the design
I like it!
i should add that i'm absolutely blown away by the positive response this design has received...
so stoked so many people like it:))))))))))
very clever meeeen....like it!..
Clever awesomeness! Print

The idea and execution is supercool, but I dont know if i'd wear it because of the nerdy first impression
