It's too bad you can't actually see the officer write out the ticket. I wouldn't have got the joke without knowing the title.

i like. i think the parking meter could stand out more. perhaps it could be in a grey colour scheme instead of the same as the tank.
SuperPope
SuperPope on Nov 13 '06
Is this supposed to look like the guy standing in front of the tank in Tienamen Square? Because it does.

Petanca on Nov 13 '06
I think this idea is quite funny, but i agree that you need to make it clearer, not only by showing how the policeman is writing the ticket but also with a more detailed parking machine 8sorry don't know the right word in english)

I can't say I find this particularly entertaining.

Distasteful, more like.

$0.

i disagree, i like the fact that a huge bureaucratic regime can be stopped by a product of itself. certainly don't find it distasteful either - the joke's at the expense of the communist party and the people in the tank, not the other way round.

i like how it how it is...not everything needs to spelled out...i think its part of the joke how it is hidden except on closer inspection
MooseDinner
MooseDinner on Nov 13 '06
I think it's hidden even on closer inspection. I doubt many people would get it at all if not for the title. It needs to be made clear what's going on. but not with text.

I doubt anyone would get it at first glance they would be like "China right?"
But I would buy it, I think its awesome.

distasteful? nah, all in good fun.

i agree with showing him writing out the ticket, maybe a different angle? otherwise a great concept

Funny, but might be better with the parking meter still standing...

could use some cleaning up. That photo is identiable through placement and position, not through the actual elements. So maybe clean up the tank a bit and take a bit of artistic license with it.

Needs a parking space with lines along with the ticket in hand.
NivelNad
NivelNad on Nov 14 '06
it'd be funny and ironic if it was a handicap space, and then you could do the meter still standing, but that'd mean adding blue and probably too many colors, maybe you could make the tank camo just 2 colors or something

some more work and it's perfect! lovely idea

i agree with l7productions with his parking space idea, really adding some flair to the parking meter underneath the tank to make it stand out (maybe a different color and more debris, with some loose change lying about), and the officer turned a little more towards the right, so we can see a big piece of white or yellow paper in his hand as he is writing a ticket with a big dollar sign so that people know what he is holding. Great idea, so I'd love to see this resubmitted!

I thought the parking meeter was part of the tank at first. Maybe play with the colors there a bit? And definitely try to make it more clear that the cop is writing a ticket.

Really good an I like the point its getting across but the parking meter need to be a bit more obviously so.

I was thinking that maybe you have one or more tickets on the tank already. Or the parking space.
Fairydust3654
Fairydust3654 on Nov 16 '06
at first sight, i thought "tiananmen square." if there's a way to make the cop more obvious, it would be a great shirt.
sugarkitten
sugarkitten on Nov 16 '06
Male sure that you can see him writing out the parking ticket and maybe put like a parking meter or a boot on the tank that would reinforce the joke, revise it a little and make it more apparent and I would buy.
peachygirl
peachygirl on Nov 17 '06
I like the idea, but the illustration is totally vague until you read the title of the design.
MooseDinner
MooseDinner on Nov 17 '06
this idea (especially with the boot mentioned by sugarkitten) would make a cool comic strip. but it's hard to execute on a t-shirt without text or multiple frames, which would basically make it a comic strip on a shirt

AH I knew it was Tiananmen. I'd buy it, but turn the policeman more so he looks like he's writing the ticket. $5 all the same

i'm with indigoloki,
but I wasn't sure what it was exactly until I read a few comments, because I forgot about the title..
rubyjewel
rubyjewel on Nov 19 '06
I thought the point was pretty clear, without reading its tittle. But I wonder what the black stripe behind the tank is about...
Anyway, well done.

this is perfect. a few minor adjustments, as stated above, and it's a definite $5.

Glad I'm not the only one that thinks this is distasteful.
