yes. because white people also live in ghetto's. although some of them have S.P.R.D(skin-pigmentation-recognition-deficiency) as i call it and have trouble understanding that. off topic. but its an awesome idea. $5

yes, white people do live in the ghetto but my guess is no one who lives in the ghetto, be they any race, buys shirts on threadless! Living in NYC, i'd be offened seeing this on some hipster who lives in Williamsburg! (because them folks would think it's ironic!)

I dunno. There are hip ghettos too. Big thing now in my city is that the poorest neighborhood had a lot ofproperty bought up and they put in wacky art restaurants and handmade creative shoe stores. now the people can't afford to live near their families because the cost of local property went up so much.

^stewy, why do you think this is horrible ? I think it's making a clever statement about why people would want to move out of the ghetto. I just read the wikipedia entry for "ghetto" and it said, "Some people in the U.S. and Europe strongly dislike the term ghetto, believing to have racist, elitist and culturally insensitive overtones,". I don't see any of those traits in this design (no race, class or culture is presented).

there's nothing funny about the conditions of life in inner cities. furthermore, the symbols used in this design do have power and meaning. some people actually do have to live with helicopters flying over every night, with thugs and guns and police tape, and making a shirt out of that for middle-income people to wear isn't right.

if you would buy this you must live in a very wealthy area. I live in an area thats not so bad but I would defiantly get beat up for this. It was a cute idea but I'm not really sure why it won.

I can see the appeal, and I understand the cute joke, but I still feel that it's in poor taste. Maybe I'm taking it too serious, and maybe it's because I live so close to, and know people that in, the 'ghetto' of Detroit, but I just think it would really offend some people. I'm very disappointed that Threadless decided to produce this shirt.

Okay. Duh. The 'postcard' style of the design makes me think that the shirt is intended to be social commentary, NOT offensive. It's supposed to represent how commercialized and consumerist this glamorized idea of "the ghetto" is in media and pop culture today, when really, that's bullshit, because it's not glamorous at all. I like it. A lot.

I havnt bought this shirt, but I liked it on first sight, and after reading a lot of the comments and lookin closer at the design still like it. I don't consider it racist esp. since there are no references to race at all. I don't think its meant to be taken too seriously, ie. like a lot of popular culture references to the ghetto. (from someone not rich or white, but hopefully trendy)
