I kinda think a shirt with text only would be funniest, unless you're actually going for the message "the pen is mightier." Then, it would be better with picture and no text. Otherwise most people looking would think "penis mightier? heh heh"

I'd say without the text. What I think would make it better would be if you changed their positions a bit. Make them take on actual fighting stances. You know, one with his empty hand behind his back or up in the air behind his head. Or one of them lunging forward or crouching low. You know, look around for some nice fencing pictures and I'm sure you'll find a snapshot of an attack that would look mind-blowing with a pen.
Oh, and maybe a fountain pen, that would be awesome. I'd buy that one. |

I say no text. And, if there's no text, then it would fill the space better if the sword and pen were raised up at an angle instead of horizontal. Great concept, and I think I would totally buy this - I'm an English major, I must!

Another english major, so I love the concept, too! However, this shirt would be irresistable if you added more detail into the 2 fencers. Maybe made them look more like swashbucklers (feathered hats, etc)?

well currently isnt it just a pen vs sword picture..
the text makes it more cliche less art i find but with no text its just a aeoff, am i the only one that wants to see the pen stab the sword man in the losing moment, a design capturing the pen winning rather the one illustratign the ocnflict with the text spelling it out, and without the penis text :p its just incomplete ~ and i second the comment by Couto too |

I'd buy it if it showed the fencer with the pen winning the swordfight somehow. Then it wouldn't need any words.

I think the text is too much.. the idea is clear without defining it again for the reader. I think the shirt would be more subtle which would make it cooler if the text was nixed. Maybe the guy with the pen could actually be shown winning like hitting the guy with the sword in the heart and a red spot there that would really drive home the mightier part without involving text

Great concept, but lose the text. The fencers should be more energetic. Actual dueling stance would be great. Re-work it a bit and I think you'll have a winner.

The mask part is weird, I think... It looks like their faces are circularly (or ovularly?) censored.... 4+ with a fix.

I'd redraw them in a more dramatic pose:
The swordsman with the pen should be in a lunge while his opponent is retreating back with his sword out of point. The masks also look really funny, like two black ovals. I don't even know why it's in a fencing situation. Might be cooler if they were just using real swords. |
