would you really want someone staring at you long enough for them to read all of this?

You should find some satirical brochure competition and submit this to that.

Better yet, start a satirical brochure competition website. Many of us will probably come hang out.

this should be called "how to spend too much money to be happy in 1992". Or, "how to spend WAY too much money to be happy but incredibly out of style in 2006".

Hey guys, thanks for both your nice and nasty comments. Note that a number of you are asking about what the hell the copy says. Well, view the design here: http://flickr.com/photos/error302/262745090/.

I would have been way into this in '97, not so much now that its 9 years later. Use your talents wisely.

is guaranteed supposed to be spelled wrong? cause thatd be kinda funny.

Plenty of deliberate but subtle misspellings there just to prove a point that drugs kill braincells. Well spotted, wide-eyed.

i gotta agree with most that there is far too much text and it's much to small to read. more importantly what you're supporting isn't really cool.
newklear
newklear on Oct 08 '06
Way too much copy. Besides, the people it'd appeal to don't really need any more encouragement to do this kind of thing.
patlaw
patlaw on Oct 08 '06
How much is too much copy then? Is there a limit we should be aware of? Or is it just asethetically driven by personal liking? If you read it, fine. If you don't, that's alright too. Why would it matter that the copy needs to be read? Its a t-shirt, not your housing mortgage contract.

Nice balance, but isn't the "illicit-substances-are-fun-and-useful" thing kind of really, really tired?
patlaw
patlaw on Oct 08 '06
I do agree with you BCloudy. In a way, while I don't regret submitting my design, I wish the rest of which I've submitted came out first. Oh well. We all learn.

satirical or not, i don't support putting drug messages on my chest.

drspjackson on Oct 09 '06
If you can cut out some of the text (summarise or be more concise), the t-shirt would be perfect. The drug message is satirical, so I wish you all wouldn't take it so seriously! No one compains about guns or knives on t-shirts, even though you could argue that they promote violence. I think the concept and design are great, and the play on spelling mistakes is genius. Nice design Patlaw, I hope it gets printed.

drspjackson: you have no freaking idea how much your comments made my day. Finally someone who shares the same sentiments. Despite all the negative reception I've amazingly and suprisingly garnered, a single agreement with someone is good enough. Thanks, mate.

i like it but to me i read step one then step three.. it's just how people are used to reading. but i like the idea and i like the inclusion of an email address.. i think people would email it to see if they get a response. if it's real its a good idea

I love it that Americans have just discovered ecstasy or X or whatever it's called now. There were so many 'Rave' shirt like this here in England in the early 90's.

keen design, ditto the flow flaws and too much text - my eyes went 1 - 3 - 2 - 4, and I first thought "Free Yourself" meant free from drug addiction.

This can be tweaked into something pretty keen. Increase the graphic size, then you can out-weigh the smaller text if you decdie to keep it. You have some good initial text hierarchy, but it could be stronger.
