About my design

NEBULOUS CUMULOUS

In such a colorful world, black and white answers still seem to be first choice. Like the shape-changing clouds that lure toward its ever-elusive prize at the end of the rainbow, fixed concepts that are black and white never prevail.

To help us visualize the multitude of blending shades, paint swatches offer a tangible color representation as grays, along with color names suggesting landmark realization points in life. Listed hues are titled: Everlasting Evening, Faded Dreams, Midnight Surprise, Ball & Chain Gray, Kiss in the Mist, Spider Web Silhouette, Once Upon a Time, Moonlit Whisper, Baby Diaper Beige, Brand New Morning, Confused Hope, and Settled Essence.

The design also reminds to expand the palette, look further beyond, see the bigger picture. There are so many choices to choose from, why limit to one of the two extremes? Choose choices. Choose nebulous cumulous choices.

I think this is fantastic. The only thing I don't like about it is that the "key" doesn't have an obviously consistent theme (i.e., "Faded Dreams" refers to something that might happen over the course of someone's life, where "Midnight Surprise" seems more like a playful, random choice.)

Totally brilliant concept though.

It's difficult to portray the obvious consistent theme on such a small display space. The "key" is actually 2 paint swatch cards at actual size. One side progresses as a sterotypical male's perspective and the other is female (inspired from the movie). The serial numbers are symbolized with XX and XY chromosome and age in life points out of 100 years. Such as 18/100 at bottom, then to where you'd think to be by 30/100 at the top. The actual text is scattered because throughout life, ups and downs occur. Some are nice, others are regretful, but it's always mixed. It's never just one way or another. I apologize for any confusion and such explanation. I just put a lot of thought into it, and it's hard to confine to 640x480 pixels. Some things are supposed to be obvious, others are to be subtle. I will try to put a larger view of this image on my dot com (same as my profile name) by tomorrow. Thanks for the comments.

haha.. you're intellectualising (if there's such a word) the whole thing... it looks good, but I'm not sure if it'll be too cluttered on a shirt. I'd definitely get it on a poster.

this really represents for me what it's like to make a choice (all busy and stuff). the clouds are my favorite, both as design and a metaphor for choice. your theme seems original and like you put alota thought in to it. i'd wear the sagestone.
