It is the way it is because: (Feather - Birds) would make less sense, feathers don't have birds. (Birds - Feather) because you're taking the feather from the bird for the pillow. The lightbulb can stand for light (duh) or ideas. The sqrt is meant to: (a) lower, but not eliminate all the light (I'm afraid of the dark), or (b) lower the number of thoughts and ideas in my head which usually prevent me from sleeping.

I get what the first term is trying to say, but if we're talking math, then what it actually says is what Shep says above: birds minus their feathers crossed with pillows. Dem's some lumpy squawkin' pillow, there...

OTOH, I think it does get the idea across well enough, and I think most viewers/wearers won't get as hung up on the mathematical correctness as some of us might. And the only more precise notations I can think of offhand would be a bit bulkier-looking on the shirt...

Overall: Very cool construction of a quasi-mathematical model of sleep. I like. :-)

Square root does not mean that the number gets smaller... if it is between zero and one, it gets bigger when you take the square root. Bad math makes me sad =[.

Hey, when you just look at it and don't think about it (like me with most things) it works... maybe thats just me...

To Gotefrisk - I never said "taking the square root will result in a smaller number." I was speaking in generalizations about the idea behind that portion of the design. I have yet to find a working 1/2 of a lightbulb and I have never had an incomplete thought...
