About my design
by pyr4lis
Ok... well this was for the Greek Myth Submission collection but it's really late ;) but I figured I'd do one anyways, mostly because I've always loved Greek Myths.

This submission is for the Mythical figure of Artemis Goddess of the Hunt aka Diana done in an Art Nouveau style. Artemis is the daughter of Zeus & Leto & Apollo is her twin brother. She is closely tied with images of the crecent moon and the stag as well as her bow. (The last of which I've decided to omit from the design)

Girly tee would come in Eggplant and Guys would be Navy.

I've added an additional links below to a much larger version of each colorway to show the designs detail.

Girly Eggplant
Guys Navy

Thanks for looking!! I hope everyong enjoys it!

this is beautiful. again, i have to mention to threadless, please print multiple colours in both girl and guy sizes. $5, if they print eggplant in guys' sizes. i have a big chest, is all.

Love the design but looks better on the navy. eggplant seems a bit too bright. If it were a darker/dimmer shade of eggplant maybe.

Thanks! I actually think eggplant only comes in that one shade shown on the American Apparel site. So if you want you can go to the AA site and look at their eggplant color. I matched it as close as I could without trying to match up the pantone colors.

Also, I figured I'd mention it, the "Artemis" text is optional. I didn't originally intend for it to be part of the design but the more I look at it the more I like it. But I also know alot of people don't like tee's with text.

Lovely! I can't decide if I prefer it on the eggplant or navy. What about another colour option? I think the text is unnecessary.

Well I was trying to choose colors that worked well to create the subject that I wanted as well as still feel Art Nouveau. Having done a little bit of brush up reasearch I choose these colors based on an Erte print I can't remember the name of.

Ideally I would like the golden yellow areas to actually be metallic gold ink to really play up the Nouveau feel. But I'm not sure if Threadless would print something like this... let alone something non-select with alot of metallic ink.

But there you go! ;) Thanks for all the positive comments! I'm in the process of working on another submission now and you can check my blogs to see early sketches if you'd like!

I love this, but without the name, so I could relate it to my name when I explain it to people.

Aww thanks Bree. I'm a huge fan of your bunny subs by the way ;) I still hold out hope that Threadless will eventually print your adorable snickering bunny sub. I've had bunnies most of my life and just love them.

I agree, drop the name, most people who passed middle school should be able to guess who/what it is. I would go several shades paler with the golden yellow, it's just too bold and un-starlike. really love the design though, captures the art nuveau style very well.

I'm watching this (2 years after the fact) because it has great potential... while I'd wear it (purple and orange being my fave color combo) as is, I think if you made her body a bit less skinny and insanely long (her arms and torso match up, but she looks 8 feet tall by the torso width to height ratio)... I think it would fare much better.

I also think her face could use a bit of work--it's not bad, but it isn't particularly intriguing, either. The composition, however, and idea (and clothing, aside from her being too thin under it to look remotely like a strong character) are wonderful. Please take this criticism as merely a suggestion on ways to play with it--I'd love this to get to print, definitely on purple... also consider how much shorter her neck is than the distance from the bottom of her neck to her breasts. Just too long and thin, which gives me that icky sense of idealizing anorexic looking figures instead of properly proportioned ones--I know this wasn't your intent, but that is how it looks.

I'd also make the skin tone a little more gentle--it pops out a bit too strongly for my taste here and makes the lips look odd. muting the color of her skin could make it flow better.

Small changes, but those are oftentimes the difference between a 2.16 and a 3.16...
