I think you need another symbol... my favorites parts of life are the in the lines somewhere. When I'm doing what I really think is worth doing... feeling satisfied and fulfilled.

very interesting idea and love the placement

ckystyle5 on Sep 01 '06
I agree with EFDisaster. Maybe adding different symbols and reducing the amount of headstones could give it a different effect. Placing one headstone at the end would make it less morbid, but I think that would screw up what you're trying to get across.

Its great concept, I wouldnt buy the shirt, but I know people who would. And its worthy of praise. so I give it a 4. (I do agree with the people above however, if you used a few less gravestone and had another symbol mxied in then it would be better.)

I just watched the old movie 'If Lucy Fell' for the 2nd time, and in it an artist is painting the concept 'Life=Love=Death'. This seems like that concept to me.

why don't you work on one that starts on the front and ends at the back? that might be cool too, your initial idea is brilliant!!!

yeah i love this... best one so far in the competition (i know it's the first day, but whatever)... it's a beautiful idea. reminds me of magazine quizzes where you see how you score by making little choices between options. love it.

Wow. Cool idea. Maybe add some variation to the symbols, although I'm not sure whether there's much more to life than love and death... $5

Ok, there is more to life than this. I like the idea and everything but it's just sort of depressing. Good job anyway and definite points for originality.

the begin is kind of seems out of place. i think either "start", or an icon to match the hearts and stones. maybe a cradle. maybe something else. but good, $5

I like it because it's a little depressing (in an artistic way) without being emo. 5$

and I'm jealous cause you'll win and my design now looks really REALLY silly (if it's ever accepted into it at all)

FRICKINAWESOME
FRICKINAWESOME on Sep 04 '06
I think it might get the impact you are attempting if at the end of each strand a different fate is shown based on the web of decisions we have made since the beginning...kind of an iconographic illustrated version of the flashing photos in Run Lola Run that depicted the remainder of a person's life when Lola made a crucial decision in her life...

since when was "emo" another word for "thought-provoking" or "deep"? even from far away its pretty good looking. $5
teechers_pet
teechers_pet on Sep 04 '06
emo is NOT another word for thought provoking or deep. To some, it's a way of describing depressed teenage propaganda.

why is any association with death branded as emo? Are emos the only ones who are allowed to acknowledge the fact that everyone dies?

camerondaigle
camerondaigle on Sep 05 '06
So a belief that birth, love, and death are the three most major events in life is now regarded as emo? And the fact that each branch of life eventually ends is morbid?

Good gracious, what is this world coming to?

Also, this is the first time I've checked on this sub and wow, that's an incredible amount of comments. Thanks to all :)

I suppose it is "depressing" or "emo" if you consider death a negative event in your life...

but have you considered ending not with a tombstone, but a heart?
AbbyS
AbbyS on Sep 05 '06
I like it, but think you can simplify it even more, do you need the word "BEGIN", not if you have the tombstones there. I think you can also get rid of the RIP, and it might be less morbid, maybe throw in some other symbols, like a $, or even some of the symbols from the game monopoly, the car, the house...then the top hat would be very unexpected.....
Eddie Rickenbacker
Eddie Rickenbacker on Sep 05 '06
I think monopoly symbols would detract from the message that love is what's important. also they would ruin the simplicity of the design
Wingy
Wingy on Sep 05 '06
When i look at it the first time...i see the hearts representing loves... I would make them a it so none are at the same time. In case someone asks what it is suppose ot mean. Loves alone the way die and fade and lead to others. But yeah. Pretty cool design.
mapmaker

There's one branch ending with a broken heart, not death.

i like this design: the colors, simplicity, the placement. from a distance, however, i imagine it could be mistaken for a spider web. still, my fav, so far.
five.
side note: freud's version of this t-shirt concept would be r-rated.

camerondaigle
camerondaigle on Sep 06 '06
mapmaker: indeed there is. i kept it in there because it's slightly jarring to just have one end with a broken heart. Think tragic, dramatic end, Romeo-style.

Eddie Rickenbacker: Indeed.

jen-wild: Well, yeah. Freud's version of EVERYTHING is r-rated.
