About my design

by tomburns
Ok. This is sort of complicated. but just kind of.

My idea spawned from the threadless loves threadless competition, trying to do new things on t shirts.

The basic idea of this is to do two things:

1. stretch the canvas of the t shirt blank around a bit.

2. try new printing techniques.

Basically, the grey drawing is a one color print, 2 print locations, the back one to be determined by the INSIDE print.

After the main front print is printed in one color, the 3 color rainbow print is then printed INSIDE the shirt, trying to register as close as possible to the position it looks like its in via the proof above.

THEN, the back 1 color print, the person and the pot o gold, is printed as close as possible to the location in the proof above.

This way, EVERY single shirt is slightly different, thus creating a custom shirt, produced in mass quantity.

This would ideally be on a really thin shirt, creme or natural, preferable american apparel.

Since you read all of this crap, heres a joke:

What do you call a fish with no eyes?

A fsh

I have a shirt from American Eagle that is screen printed on the inside so the colors on the outside of the shirt are very pale.

Great idea! $5

things i hate include:

thin t-shirts that cost around 25 dollars

thin t-shirts that cost any amount of money

having to buy two t-shirts just so i can wear one.

it's a great concept, but thin t-shirts are the worst thing in the world.

printing the front, and then trying to to print the inside to get the two designs to align properly would be a right pain in the A$$...

i don't think threadless would approve it purely for this reason.. pain in the buttol to print.

Like the design & would wear it if printed all on outside. Inside-out concept feels gimicky. Plus, for those of us that wear clothes tp conceal (tatoos, hair, etc.) we don't want a thin shirt.

mezo

Why are people complaining about thin shirts & having to buy more than one shirt? I am wickedly confused.

The inside-out printing concept has been around for ages- American Eagle did not invent it.

It has nothing to do with thin shirts, necessarily, but LIGHT shirts. If you take any natural or white Threadless shirt you have right now, turn it inside ouit, you'd see a faint print. Printing both the outside AND the inside of the shirt gives a subtle layering effect.

That said, you've done a genius job tom. I especially like that you've incorporated such a LARGE design. And the half handdrawn/half slick vector look is perfect.

But, for the love of Miller Lights, what the fuck is that thing puking the rainbow? Is it the moon? A snowman of death? Evil alien baby? WHAT?

I don't even care.

haha this is awsome! and mezo has a point there...

but really i dont mind a thin t-shirt, alot of t-shirst for females are made thin which yes its annoying as hell but ive just gotten used to wearing a tanktop underneath--not really that big a deal. $5 from me though i agree that you might want to make the rainbow a bit brighter.
