amazing movie, but something about the design isn't *quite* grabbing me...something about it being only an outline, maybe? or maybe it's the tee colors. not sure, i can't quite place it....3 for now.

I disagree with you, julys. Both of you traced the movie poster. It's not like kidvee copied off of you specifically. I mean seriously, no fair dragging this one down for something you both traced.
That said, I liked the movie, but am not fond of the design on a tee. |

I think we can say now that this will never be a shirt. That is kind of depressing. I was actually looking forward to wearing this. I personally give it a 5$, because i want it and would wear it.

its true i "traced" over the movie poster in the lovely llustrator...
i figured people liked the other eternal sunshine shirt i did up so why not try another shot with another shot. and the movie isn't a turd, it is actually better than you. |

Oh, and the movie does, indeed, kick ass.
...and that's an even better reason not to steal from it. You're not creating a derivative work here. You're not creating parody. Nor, is it a homage. You're flat-out copying key elements straight from source material, and attempting to pass them off as your own creation. |

And for the designer, maybe you could try freehanding a different scene from the movie, and maybe try not to scribble it. Maybe you could try a whole different movie/idea. It's up to you.

You have had a bit of a bashing! But you know, I think I might be upset if I was the director, the art director, the poster designer or whatever on the movie. If you're a fan and a bit naive and you copy something in homage that's kind of innocent. But if you put it on a website that sells design and is full of people trying to be good designers then no, it doesn't stand up.
