I was thinking about art history and the different styles of different periods and the different reasons I like certain styles of art. Than I was thinking how most of my work is really complex and layered but sometimes something very simple like a silouette can be so striking. And than I decided to make an illustation that showed a "battle" between these different styles by showing a beautiful elaborate bird having a staredown with a beautiful small simple bird.

Anyways hope you enjoy :)

thanks everyone! grey seeems to be the most popular color. i also had one that was like all light greys/silver on the dark grey shirt that was cool, maybe ill post that.

This is perhaps one of the most balanced creative concept that I have ever seen on this site. It's executed well too. Love it on the grey or white. Sweet.

It's got a nice feel to it, reminds me of when I was in class, and used to pencil a little drawing, and pass it around... when i got it back it had little doodles from everyone who touched it..unless the teacher got a hold of it. Great juxtaposition. Interesting colors. $5

I would have left the small bird without the design backdrop. Then there would have been more of a contrast of simplicity / complexity.

I like it a lot, but would personally prefer the bird to be without the sun, to add some humor. The fancy bird is all proud and thinks it's hot stuff, then the little bird is just kickin it on the same branch like "sup?".. the fancy sun ruins the fun for me.

i think the idea would be much clearer without the sun, or with a more sparsely-designed sun. because right now, both sides are a bit complex. it's beautiful, now, tho-- just harder to grasp.

Thanks for all the love & feedback guys!!! I tried taking out the sun in the design and making it simpler and decided I do stand by it staying the way it is. I think silloetting it against the sun makes it the most "simple" and also creates more contrast and balance overall :)
