For those few who haven\'t seen it, this is a reference to 2001 a space odessy. Hal, the computer of some space ship starts killing all the crew, and in the end one the lone survivor is able to pull out the memory slots of the computer, reducing it to stupidity (I swear I\'ve spoiled hardly anything). Its final thought is to sing A Bicycle Built For Two. The style I drew Hal in is my own (darn you lack of gradient colors!), so I added the daisy petals around it to make it more obvious and pretty.

good color and design. radial thingy, heart chakra. true you shouldn't have to explain it but i think it stands on the visual appeal alone. there's something to be said for the not totally random.

and ol hal 9000 is kinda sad and nostalgic huh. layers of meaning, kewl.

I don't think explanation means it's a bad shirt. It means some sort of thought was put into it and isn't just a splaying of maximalistic designs or something.

Anyway, as far as this particular shirt goes, I would remove the daisy petals because it detracts from the design. The styles are too different. Hal's "eye" is fine, and placing the bike in it is a good idea.

C'mon. Stanley Kubrick, people. That's pop culture, and these shirts tend to be references to pop culture.

That movie is very long winding and totally bizzare.. What's up with that crazy monkey in the beginning? AMAZING MOVIE!!!

I had a little difficulty getting the idea, but I had a little difficulty getting the movie at first... and that didn't mean it was a badly designed movie. I think even recent movies fall short of the amazing cinematography of 2001.

Design is communication, but it doesn't always have to be clear cut. If HAL is transformed into a daisy, then obviously this design has more to do with it's color and shape elements than the background story. I think it's interesting.-
