this...doesn't mean anything to me, if you have to explain it to me, that means you don't have a good design.. ditto. try the same idea perhaps, but make it obvious. explaining your design just means that it only makes sense to you, not to anyone else. |

good color and design. radial thingy, heart chakra. true you shouldn't have to explain it but i think it stands on the visual appeal alone. there's something to be said for the not totally random.
and ol hal 9000 is kinda sad and nostalgic huh. layers of meaning, kewl. |

I don't think explanation means it's a bad shirt. It means some sort of thought was put into it and isn't just a splaying of maximalistic designs or something.
Anyway, as far as this particular shirt goes, I would remove the daisy petals because it detracts from the design. The styles are too different. Hal's "eye" is fine, and placing the bike in it is a good idea. C'mon. Stanley Kubrick, people. That's pop culture, and these shirts tend to be references to pop culture. |

That movie is very long winding and totally bizzare.. What's up with that crazy monkey in the beginning? AMAZING MOVIE!!!
I had a little difficulty getting the idea, but I had a little difficulty getting the movie at first... and that didn't mean it was a badly designed movie. I think even recent movies fall short of the amazing cinematography of 2001. Design is communication, but it doesn't always have to be clear cut. If HAL is transformed into a daisy, then obviously this design has more to do with it's color and shape elements than the background story. I think it's interesting.- |
