I\'m an ultra-nerd.... I did a search, for authenticity\'s sake, to find a game that opens with the Sicilian Dragon (an arrangement of pawns that sort of looks like a dragon; played by the Dragon), and ends with check by using a Knight (the Knight\'s knight).

To clarify things, I don\'t play chess. I just thought this was amusing. Hopefully, so do you.

I wish the style was cleaner, but I like the idea

A slightly bigger view, with slightly better contrast... :)

Hopefully, my link worked that time.

how might my style become cleaner?

i like the slate, but perhaps a lighter color is best for sake of contrast, my dear.

the only thing that should be green on the knight
is his feather. If you're trying to balance the green
in the design, you could illustrate some green
grass at the bottom of the rock instead of a
green puddle.

^ i was hoping to go for a shadow look, but thanks for the suggestion. :)

how might your style be cleaner? the first thing i picked up on was the knights face, its too flat being just a profile, maybe skew the whole design to add a little depth and perspective. the dragon looks 3d while the knight is 2d

me parece buena idea pero lejos de un estilo, me parece que la calidad del dibujo es deficiente .....

i like your style, you don't need to make it cleaner if that's how you draw! i think the dragon is really excellent.

Nice style. I think it would work well on light grey.

If the layout of the pieces on the board is important then the chess board needs to be a bigger feature than it is. If you want the joke to be clearer, have the chess board, and the players suggested by only their arms. Or make the chess board larger...

^ Although the layout of pieces is a subtle part of the joke, I did it for chess-enthusiasts. The greater appeal (or at least, what I'm assuming is the wider one) is the players themselves: the knight, clutching the horse chess piece, and the dragon, setting fire to the knight's... knight.

So, yes, the chess board is important, but the players even more so.

The Detail is very hard to see. It looks like a dragon breathing fire on a chess board with a knight...which isnt very amusing.

His side burned to a crisp would be pretty funny.
