I was thinking that not much says "normal" and white bread america more than golf (which I hate as well) But having a love for argyle myself, I thought this would be a good concept for the "Little Miss Sunshine" contest.

Argyle and golf? Your design is Scottish/British all the way. Maybe if you used a baseball cap and polo shirt instead of an olde tymey golf hat and sweater-- but that would be too far from the movie.

Reminds me of either one of larafairie's or emoant's pictures on deviantart. I can't remember who had it.

well the intention was to go more "white bread". i agree that baseball and apple pie are much more american, but that's not really where i was going at all. it has nothing to do with being american. that was a poor choice of words on my part. i wish I had left "american" out of that previous post all together...

This is a Little Miss Sunshine entry? Did you see the movie? There's nothing remotely golf-y or Scottish in the whole dang thing. Nada. And, um, well, golf- not very Threadless. More middle-aged salesguy.

Actually, the scope of the competition was to create a stand alone design inspired by the theme, "Everyone pretend to be normal". It is not intended to be a promotional item for the movie, only something in the same conceptual vein. I've played golf 2 or 3 times in my life and every time I felt like I was out of place and pretending to be someone I wasn't. I thought it would be a good allusion for the ThreadLess.com audience.

I think it's an inspired take on the theme, the colors and design work well together, and it make you stop and think for a moment.

For crying out loud, I am SICK of designs with VW busses and little girls on them.

But it's not a golf whatsit, it's a commentary on golf whatsits; right? It's certainly taking something horribly normal, and twisting; and I like that.
