 Hello all. This is my first submission, and I am very anxious to hear your thoughts! It\'s inspired by my Corporate America based job, love for giant monsters, and the hope that one day monsters will fight their way up the Corporate food chain and be confined to cubicles like the rest of us! I prefer the natural color as the brighter colors of the monster alter the composition a bit too much and affect readability.
I also wish you actually saw the monster's face as this is a great concept and allows you the chance to be creative and show the entire monster. I think a version from the perspective of a person in the elevator would kick it up a notch! Great first sub though. |

Alas, I think my colorblindness may have gotten the best of me here. But essentially I was trying to just make the monster be the focal point, and then use his color as the door guy's tie color to sort of pop the two of them. Either way, thanks for the props. If the illo is good enough, hopefully the colors can be tweaked later.
Also, BasicShift : thanks for the input. i was going for a certain level of ambiguousness with the monster's face. I tried a couple versions with the way you described and I didn't love it. But my girlfriend feels exactly the same and wants to see the monster face as well, so you can't win em all I guess :) |

How can people prefer natural and blue to chocolate? I love the effect of darkness on the monster in the elevator. It adds a certain comic creepiness to it. The fact that he's a pale yellow softens him, and the stark white humans are perfect. A 5, but i definitely would buy it on chocolate.

good concept, just add some detail so that you know for sure that they are inside the elevator (at first glance). maybe the outside (back) edge of the elevator floor?

i hear you Kramer. this was an issue when i first posted this in the blogs. i was hoping all the elevator details (emergency phone, floor number display, elevator approval certificate thingy) would help...but i know it's a weird angle. hopefully the oddness propels it :)

Actually the woman is walking outside the elevator...meant to give the scene some perspective and to help with the inside/outside elevator confusion as explained a few of my responses up. Thanks for the votes yo!!! :)

I think the image would be stronger if you illustrated a straight on view into the elevator with the monster looming behind the nervous man. The whole office scene can be completed with a motivational poster or a ficus silhouetted on the sides. Also, for colors, I picture charcoals/shades of gray when I think corporate, and you can offset the monster by making him a pop of color such as blue or orange, but in a gray suit/vest.
As is, it's a good image. |

i love the concept, it's great. I just think the perspective is a little difficult to understand. i would like it much better if the focus was the man waiting for the elevator looking in, as opposed to the monster and guy looking out. it would be more clear as to where you are, inside or out.

i like the concept, but i feel like the monster needs more character. he needs to be more intimidating. he needs some sharp toenails or something. i think it would be better if his face was visible. i imagine him having sharp teeth hanging out of his mouth and a nice line of drool hanging down. i also think he needs a tie.
