It's the coldest it's been in years here....this is way too "liberal politics" for me.
Spikex
Spikex on Aug 02 '06
i don't like it. simple, and it stays there.sorry.

bluetech : the reason that it's cold now is the global worming which cause the extreme weather..
The_Girl
The_Girl on Aug 02 '06
Global warming doesn't mean the whole planet will all of a sudden get warmer. That may happen eventually, but right now it it means that some places will be hotter and some will be colder and some will have crazy ass hurricanes. The global climate is seriously out of whack.
TheTragonDragon
TheTragonDragon on Aug 02 '06
I like it...
maybe if you lose the text and put the bear on a melting piece of ice and surround him with a melting glacier or something

spikex: i don't think that's how it works

All I know is you guys are talking about weather extremes due to global warming....yet how do you explain there being an ice age millions of years ago? I guess our monkey relatives drove SUVs too huh? I won't post on this again.

Morning entry I like the fact that you came up with a new idea for a shirt design.

I like the idea, but the bear on fire under the sun would probably get the point across without the text.

5$ just because blueteach is an idiot.

Oh poor polar bear! First we melt all your ice and then you catch on fire! I love shirts that get people talking to me about stuff they know nothing about. Then I can blind them with science. $5.

ConcretePlanet
ConcretePlanet on Aug 02 '06
This reminds me of An Inconvenient Truth (the Al Gore movie about Global Warming). There's this part of it where there is this computer generated polar bear swimming for a really long time looking for ice and when he finally finds a small piece and tries to get on it it breaks and there is no ice for him to climb on and he drowns. It's really sad.
Though this shirt isn't really well drawn and could maybe use some changes ( i like thetrangondragons idea) I'm going to give it a 5 for the idea. I love stuff like this.

global warming rocks.... there's nothing worse than snow shoveling.. i can't wait till we get our first palm trees in NY and can sun bath all year long!

S_Laughter on Aug 02 '06
Oh yeah, I'm really sure the ice caps are just melting because the liberals want money.

Fuck off, cast the sky.

Oh and FYI; no matter how hot it gets, palm trees will never grow in New York, you dumbass. Maybe you could lose some weight and shoveling snow wouldn't suck so much you lazy piece of shit.

aside from the whole politcal issue...
this design is terrible, and terribly boring. zero. sorry. i believe in global warming, but i don't beleive that alone makes a good shirt.
jett
jett on Aug 03 '06
kinda looks like a stegosaurus 'till you're right up close. anyway, the thing with these "Cause" type shirts is that unless buying the shirt puts some kind of money or resources into the cause at hand, then it's kind of hypocritical to buy it.

ben strawn on Aug 03 '06
RAAAAAAAGE DUMP. (for the "debaters" above") I love the concept, but the design lacks something, I don't like the text style but the sentiment is great. I really want this design to work. please resubmit if it isn't chosen. Scientist tell us try try again. People that can't understand climate change don't want. Something big will wake them up, then we're forming a giant spanking train. Get ready or get read, no stuffing the books in your pants, bare bottom buddy.

Woahh, in response to S. Laughter on Aug. 02:

You need to calm downn. We get it, you have your own opinion which is fantastic. but take note of a little message from threadless on the right of the comment box: Remember, be nice!

Anyway, I like the font of the bubble. I like the shirt. Keep designing. :]

CaffeintedIniquity on Aug 04 '06
I am fond of things on fire, and as stated above, having simply a flaming polar bear would get the message across while sparking a minimal amount of verbal abuse from loudmouth conservatives. Please please please submit again!

transparentman
transparentman on Aug 05 '06
bit too simple
I_heart_ducks
I_heart_ducks on Aug 05 '06
I like the concept, but it's pretty poorly executed. It seems that you have a design that's both humorous and sad at the same time (and it's conflicting, not communing). I'd prefer something portrayed comically, but with a message that one could interpret as literal or satirical. On top of that, it is a bit on the simple side.
ecky_ducky

Russell? How's yer ma?
It's the red speech bubble.

estranged on Aug 07 '06
True! In alot of places where the polarbears live, it's getting hotter. I live up north, I'm talking from experience.

Love the shirt !
lovelover
lovelover on Aug 07 '06
It really is true. The polar ice caps are melting faster than ever and polar bears sometimes get trapped on them and drift away out into the ocean until they drown or starve... It's really sad. They might be all gone soon.
Ahz
Ahz on Aug 07 '06
I thought the point of these comments is ONLY about the artistic merit of the shirt. Keep politics out of it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the point of the shirt is the issue of global warming, not the respective opinions of political parties ABOUT global warming.

Nice concept, but my suggestion is to either remove the sun or speech bubble, or both. Having so much takes away from the design. Nic submission!
jamco
jamco on Aug 07 '06
Warming/cooling is cyclical; we can tell that much from our limited records. I imagine it'd be even more clear if we had been taking records for more than a couple hundred years.

The design is kinda boring, too.
archbar
archbar on Aug 07 '06
I actually like it, even though the design is lacking in...the interesting department.

But, global warming makes me sad, so I would wear it.
marmalade_skies
marmalade_skies on Aug 08 '06

but i would definitely wear the shirt, and then run around in front of the stupid people who think.. what was it? oh yes.. "global warming is a liberal crock to make money and get scare tactic votes"

>.> Global warming is a natural occurance on our planet, how do you think we came out of an ice age? Carbon Dioxide takes up only 0.03% of all the chemicals in our atmosphere, i wouldn't buy this shirt.

coxiesara
coxiesara on Aug 08 '06
I really like it but I don't know if the flames are necessary. At first glance I thought it was a stegosauraus (spelled completely wrong, I know). You did such a good job conveying how sad the polar bear is, I think just the polar bear, sans flames, is effective. I love this shirt.
coxiesara
coxiesara on Aug 08 '06
I response to Ste7en and glory, yes global warming is a natural occurance but we have unnaturally sped up the process. Usually these temperature changes that we have experienced take much much longer, allowing the animals on the planet to slowly adjust and also causing much less severe weather. Because the rate of global warming has become so unnatural, the rate of meting of the polar ice caps is much faster than normal.

Global warming is natural, but we are making it unnatural.
