nice design! the placement should be off center to make it unexpected. with the design in the middle its so expected. maybe there should be more of the flies like on the shoulder or somewhere else like to make you look around. otherwise its cool

not liking the skulls

I'm not a huge fan of the skulls, either... But those birds are amazing!!

They are a bit too scary maybe ^^, and I promise it's the lastest time I put some skulls in my designs... ;p

Well... the birds look very "backyard" -- the one on the left sort of resemples a Cardinal, and the right... some sort of finch, I guess...I don't know, but I mean, not exactly the harbinger's of Doom ... but with that said, the detail on the birds is outstanding, and they have very real poses. If you keep the skull, I think one, small, would do it.. be almost subliminal about it. Lots of talent in this, just a shade off, for me though.

I was going to say nearly the same thing. =]

"Backyard" means that they are the kinds of birds that you might see in the suburbs--normal, cheerful (and in the case of the cardinal, colorful) songbirds.

I just don't associate cardinals with human skulls. I think you could take that juxtaposition and do something really cool with it, though. Good luck!
